April update 2016

Where can I find instructions on how to do this? I've never flashed the updates before, only sideloaded the OTAs. TIA.

Here you go. You need step 1 and 9 in the original post (link below). I assume u already have Andoid SDK installed but instructions are on there as well.

I always prefer not using any tools that are out there and just flash the images myself. It's easy enough and fun.

I don't know what's going on. I can't get the computer to see the phone after I boot into the bootloader. I've tried everything I know with no success. I've got "OEM Unlock" and "USB Debugging" enabled. I can even run "adb reboot bootloader" and get it to reboot into the bootloader. But then it no longer sees the phone.

Any ideas what I'm missing?

adb devices does not work when you reboot into bootloader. You should try fasboot devices. Did you try that? Type fasboot devices and you should see your device serial number come back.

Nope. All I get is the prompt again. Nothing.

Very strange because if you were able to unlock your bootloader ok, that means your fasboot devices did see your device otherwise it would have not worked. You might want to start a thread of your own.

No, I'm trying to unlock the bootloader. I can't get that far. I normally sideload the OTA but wanted to start flashing the image earlier in the month. But now nothing works once it reboots.

I can move files to and from the phone when it's booted normally. I just don't get it.

Make sure you have the latest SDK Tools installed... 25.1.1 is the newest version, and can be updated via the Android SDK Manager located in the C:\SDK\android-sdk_r24.4.1-windows\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools directory. Also make sure the Google USB driver is up to date... rev. 11 is the newest. And instead of using the adb command to reboot into the bootloader, try booting to it w/ the phone turned off and the USB cable disconnected (power + volume down). Reconnect the cable after booting into the bootloader, then run the fastboot devices command.

Also, you should have downloaded the SDK from here...

http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html#download

Scroll to the bottom of the page, and select the installer_r24.4.1-windows.exe command line tool. Or download android-sdk_r24.4.1-windows.zip, and extract it to the C:\SDK directory.

Looks like I do have the latest revisions but I'll try uninstalling/reinstalling them and see if that works.

Got my April updates today.

Let us know how your battery is. For some reason I think my battery and service at home got worse after I did the March update and now I'm on the April update.

Sorry for the double post but same here. Hopefully the April security update fixes whatever the March one brought to the table that caused by battery to go meh

If April update doesn't fix battery... Let's hope May update does?? Google should be aware of these battery issues by now... I hope so. -_-

Got my April update today, I went into recovery and wiped cache afterwards just to get rid any residual cruft. I'll see how battery does over the next few days.

Must have been a big batch of updates pushed out, also got mine. Did the cache partition wipe and giving it a full charge right now.
