That's an interesting theory that definitely makes sense. At least we know they're taking their time!True that it's taking longer for Google to update the pixel 6 and up line. But I think it has more to do with the AI/ML aspects of the tensor chip. I believe Google underestimated how hard it would be to write for it at the OS level.
2.42 GB must take 2 days to DL LOLWell, it's here. Automatic OTA on my 7 Pro.![]()
Can you show me where this is the case? If you look at the abstraction code, they're doing this properly, by abstracting it along with most h/w functions. If not, pretty much any other Android OEM would be hosed here, they'd have to re-write the same code, to function with their AI chipset, and it'd be a serious hairball.True that it's taking longer for Google to update the pixel 6 and up line. Nope, purely conjecture on my part, and going from the issues they are having with updates. Can you show me where this is the case? The AI functions are important, and complicated, to be sure, but this is why things are abstracted, similar to the modem abstraction layer, or the camera one, or ...
Or is there some evidence that they're struggling with the Tensor-specific side of the abstraction?
Yup that's what surprised me. Every month I've had issues updating and have to let the watch battery drain so that the watch would reboot on charging. Not this time.My husband's watch always crashes on automatic update
Glad you got the update with no issues! I'm still waiting for mine/just haven't checked lool. Still a little nervous about them but eh, I'm not in a huge rush.P7 Pro updated yesterday or the night before...All good...I like to stop in here to see how upset folks are at delays...Makes me feel better about myself...![]()
I don't have fast wifi (50mb/s) and the entire process took about 2 hours. The download part was less than an hour.2.42 GB must take 2 days to DL LOL
Ummm, the speed of your WIFI has nothing to do with how long a download will take. Rather, it's the speed of your internet connection that determines this.I don't have fast wifi (50mb/s) and the entire process took about 2 hours. The download part was less than an hour.
I think that's more due to the fact you turned off 5G. I did the same shortly after getting the phone, and noticed similar battery stats. After the April update battery life on my 7pro improved significantly (also I changed mobile preferred service from 5G to LTE but am on WiFi mostly). I used to get around 5 hrs SOT, but now consistently around 6 to 6.5 hrs. Are you guys noticing the same?
This is interesting! I'll have to see if I get similar results on my 7 when I get the update. After the April update battery life on my 7pro improved significantly (also I changed mobile preferred service from 5G to LTE but am on WiFi mostly). I get that. The 50mb/s is based upon a speed test from my phone. I never download over LTE. That speed is irrelevant in this case.Ummm, the speed of your WIFI has nothing to do with how long a download will take. Rather, it's the speed of your internet connection that determines this.
BTW, did you really fake the moon landing?Ummm, the speed of your WIFI has nothing to do with how long a download will take. Rather, it's the speed of your internet connection that determines this.
