Are any of you going to use ODIN on the unlocked phone to flash?

Unless it's changed, doesn't an unlocked phone take longer to get updates than say, a Verizon branded phone? I'm guessing to remedy this would be to flash the Verizon ROM with ODIN?

This will be my first unlocked phone, only ordered unlocked because the Samsung site was having troubles linking my Verizon account. I hope I'm not gonna lose any features or get late updates. Curious if flashing Verizon software would remedy any of this.

Most of the time unlocked get security updates first but occasionally carrier firmware does , carrier firmware get OS updates first and yes you can flash to carrier version from your unlocked if u want.

I follow Sammobile on FB and looking back on previous posts, it always seems like Verizon OS updates are faster than unlocked. I'm going to flash mine. Only reason I didn't get a Verizon version is bc it looked like I was going to have to change plans on Samsung's site that night through Verizon. I'm still on grandfathered unlimited 4G, so I don't want to lose that. Although, someone said something like there is a loyalty plan for 5G. I've been with Verizon for over 20 years.

Thanks for letting me know. I follow Sammobile on FB and it looks like OS updates are faster through the carriers. I'll flash it when I get it if I can find the ODIN files.

This will be my first unlocked Samsung so it will be interesting how long updates take. I am not on a major provider; using Tracfone so I am running on Verizon towers for service. Never had any problems with Pixels, LG brands.

You'll need Patch B (prince comsey) Odin and it will factory reset so make sure everything back up, welcome.

I'm going to do the opposite and keep the unlocked firmware but use it on Verizon. :) I don't want all the Verizon bloatware.

I've been using Package Disabler Pro for that.

That's great....I know that's supposed to work well too. I know they used to say bloatware took away battery life and made the phone slower but I'm not sure since the OS puts apps to sleep now since they aren't used if it's any different than disabling them. I do it anyways, just in case.

I would just use the unlocked firmware, less bloaty, and even if the updates where a few days later, what's a few days.

Unlocked phones are available to sign up for the beta when it comes out. Verizon doesn't participate in it. This is why I bought the unlocked.

I wouldn't use the carrier firmware or model even if you pay me

Love the unlocked firmware as intended by Samsung compared to carrier firmware.
