I would be enjoying mine...if I still had one. Went through three, and all three had significant defects. I'm not talking about me being picky - I'm talking about creaking/sticky/loose screens that tightening the screws underneath couldn't fix.
I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss people like this. Sure, there are some people who have gone through 10-15 that likely will never be satisfied, but there are definitely others who have gone through 2-4 (like me) that have all had legitimate defects. I'm not saying it's the standard, but it's definitely happening.
I like Google and I like Asus. I'm not saying they are bad companies. But at the same time, I don't think they are immune from criticism here because of a 'vocal minority.' Enough people are having problems for the issue to be mentioned on several pretty big sites. Some people may be overreacting/too picky, but it's pretty hard to deny a manufacturing defect has occurred with the release of this tablet.
And also, in my opinion, the price point of the Nexus 7 (or any product for that matter) has nothing to do with my tolerance for manufacturing defects. Again, this is my opinion - I'm not saying anyone has to agree with me. I don't care if its $249 or $2490, there isn't an excuse for the product not being built as designed. If you choose to put out a tablet at a lower price point, that's great. I applaud you for the decision, especially considering the fact that you're going to recoup a certain percentage back through the sale of content. But you don't get to release a tablet, a significant number of which are suffering from a fairly apparent manufacturing defect, and expect consumers to tolerate it because the tablet was priced competitively.
Mine has the screen creaking/ loose defect. It's not worth taking back. As long as it function for what you need to to, keep it.
