Are you getting a Galaxy Gear 2 (neo) or fit with your S5?

Picked up the G Gear Fit. I was a religious user of a fit bit flex and the Gear Fit was everything the flex wasn't. It's truly a remarkable device. With the S5 it works flawlessly.

I have zero interest in the new watches from Samsung, I have the original only because I won it, so it was free. Honestly if I were actually going to purchase a smart watch at this point I would probably be looking at the Motorola coming out this summer. Some that uses Google Now and Google's features has more overall value to me, mostly because I don't want to spend that much money on something that if I ever go away from Samsung as far as a phone I am stuck with a $200 watch I can't use anymore.

I watched the Motorola watch announcement. I like that it has a designer watch look with all the Google features to it. I don't know much about either, less about the LG watch, other than it has the same square design as the Gear watches. I tend to trust Motorola more than LG based on history, and the fact the still work very closely with Google even with the pending (is it still pending) sale. Time will tell though still little known about both.

Does it feel bulky at all to wear?

I came from wearing a G-Shock so in terms of bulk the neo is a lot slimmer. What I do find is that it is longer on my wrist (I have small wrists) but after wearing it for a whole day you don't even notice it.

Got the gear fit a couple days after i got my s5. It's a great display and def like that i dont have to look at my phone for all my notification as my fit will let me know (for the apps I setup with it). The neo and gear 2 were just overkill for what i was looking for. It'll def be cool if the fit was able to do all that, but having the fits item and simple notifications, was good enough for me. As the weather gets better, i'm going to get more out of my fit. The pedometer is nice and i have it basically going all day so randomly check my step count.

So far so good. Id suggest testing out which ever you want first and check if there's a restocking fee. I'm happy with my purchases, had $50 in GC to use at bby, so price was cheaper for me.

I'm really interest in getting the gear 2, but one thing I'm very happy about with the s5 is the phenomenal battery life im getting. I'll have to see the effects others ate having with their gear on the battery of the s5 to see if its utility is worth it for me personally.

Got the fit the same day as my s5 on Monday and so far am loving it. Battery life is kicka$$ compared to my s4!! Use it mostly for notifications/heart rate/and to control music playing on my phone at the gym

For the people who have these devices (Gear 2, Neo and Fit)......does it take a constant reading of your heart rate and if so, is it reliable? I want to be able to use this while I'm biking (Mountain and Touring) and training at my gym. I do a lot of HIIT at my gym when I'm doing cardio so I'd like to know how much my HR goes up and how well I lose weight according to my HR. Thanks!

I dont think it'll do it constantly, or automatically, you will need to take your heart rate by requesting it.

I got my Gear Fit together with my GS5 in a combo for around 10 dollars here in Lima with the CLARO PERU operator :)

I don't mean automatically but more along the lines like if I'm riding my bike and going up hill, I'd like to access it and have it monitor my rate as I climb. Can it do that?

I use the original gear with my S5 and still get good battery life myself. It does affect it a little, but overall I like not having to reach for my phone everytime I get a Txt or phone call.

I got the Gear 2, which worked just fine with my GS4 and works with the GS5 as well in all functions other than that the weather doesn't update correctly on its own (separate thread for that). I was worried it'd be too big or heavy, but it feels so nice and solidly built. It's not heavy, but it is heavy enough that you know it's there. More like being pleasantly reminded than weighed down. Battery life is great, I burn maybe 20% a day with weather trying to update hourly, about 70 email notifications a day plus a few other tasks being run. Looks beautiful, great screen. Not sure it's worth $300. For $200 I'd say it's a no-brainer. My only gripe other than the weather not working, which I'm sure can be patched, is that the lift-to-activate the screen takes some getting used to. I'd much prefer to be able to shake the watch awake like with the Pebble.

hardly ever take the phone out of my pocket now with the Neo - best $200 I have spent, totally worth it!
