I'm very curious to see what the 5 will be all about or course. I absolutely love my pixel 3 XL right now. I mean the addition of A wide-angle lense and the Snapdragon 765G processor is interesting news... As long as the price reflects all these of course. When I think about my wants/needs for a new phone, I don't really need a new phone just yet. So yeah, we'll all be looking to see what the phone is all about and studying it. Let's not all just "jump the gun" here though ya know?

My only concern with the P5 is the Battery. Period.
I don't care about the software optimization Google does to make the battery more efficient.
We've seen in past Pixels that the battery is on the low side.
Please! Please! Let there be a decent battery!

yep yep yep I must completely agree with you. I mean regardless of software optimization from Google, the capacity of the battery doesn't make a difference at the end of the day, because if the phone goes dead and you want to use your phone, then what's the point? Now my Pixel 3 XL has a 3450 mAh battery. The new Pixel 5 is supposed to have a 3100 mAh battery or something like that. so like I said, we shall see what actually happens and not hear say...

This should be called Pixel 4.5 or 4S. Really its adding preferences more than upgrades. Fingerprint instead of face unlock. An ultrawide instead of 2x Zoom camera. Biggest battery in a Pixel. Still keeps 90hz. Slightly slower processsor. New additions are 5g and reverse wireless charging. So are those preferences and additions worth the upgrade for me? No. Maybe if they knock 200 off like they do on black friday deals I'll get it.

Haha that's funny just like Android 11 beta 2.5 versus stage 2 haha

I tried 5G, didn't make any use of it. For one it is very unstable because any building or object blocking signal will cause the phone to fall back to 4G. Secondly. what am I gonna do with that speed on a phone? 4G is more than enough IMO. I also don't like any fingerprint scanner. For me, face unlock is fast and works every single time. The only reason I might wanna upgrade is for more battery life. The ultra wide camera is not a must, just a bonus.

Honestly I have to agree with you completely. You said it accurately correctly. The only reason I'm talking about 5G ultra wideband millimeter wave is because it's future proofing yourself but I also don't really need the bandwidth that much. And right now it's almost non-existent as far as an ultra-wide lens, it's like an icing on the cake, it's a bonus but I don't need one either.

I prefer a fingerprint scanner so that ticks a box. If it is smaller than originally leaked that’s another box ticked for me. Battery and battery optimization is a biggy that remains to be seen. So I’m a maybe. I wish they’d make it a nice grippy maybe matte finish tho so I can go sans case. That is a big one for me.

Yep yep I agree with you. Battery optimizations and battery capacity are the biggest importance for me, alongside with the camera quality which Google's never going to disappoint us on. As far as the 5G connection it would be nice but I don't need it. Having the fingerprint scanner is essential versus face unlock. like we're all saying, we'll have to see what the 5 is like when actually comes out and not assume anything because we can't speculate.

From what I have been reading; the answer is most likely NO. But as they say, never say never. Might jump back to Sammy....or just keep the 4XL for a long, long time.

I don’t get the need for 5G personally. I know it’s the latest and greatest and for that reason alone tech nerds want it.
I really think 4G/LTE is quite adequate and it is widespread everywhere at least on Verizon’s network out in the West.
5G will probably be late in coming to my area anyway. Definitely not the reason to buy any particular phone IMO.

yep yep I agree wholeheartedly with you. I mean for us tech nerds, it's the latest and greatest network technology and that's why everyone's craving! For me, I don't need 5G ultra wide band. I would like to watch more YouTube at 4K resolution without buffering every 20 seconds but it's not a necessity at the end of the day. Yeah, you're right, LTE 4G is very widespread, very stable and reliable, and it's where wireless network technology is at right now. The one great thing about 5G ultra wide band technology is anything with video conferencing / video chatting and high capacity bandwidth will be enjoyable in the future! However, in the future in reality takes I think at least 3 to 5 years into the future at least at this point. The biggest thing for 4G LTE when it first debut on the market especially for Verizon Wireless was that you could do voice / data at the same time. With CDMA 3G internet speeds you couldn't do that. When you're on a phone conversation with anyone, you couldn't use any applications or web browser at all and that was annoying!

Well regarding you tube buffering I’ve not had that issue on Verizon’s 4G, but I don’t bother with hi def either. To me you tube is good for short clips while waiting for something. Everything I care about watching I watch on my laptop, tv or tablet. But diff strokes for diff folks for sure.
I’ve not had issues with video chatting or zoom meetings which I do a lot these days using 4G. Maybe an occasional 1 or 2 second freeze but then I’m never sure if it’s me or them. Verizon LTE speeds here are not even that great but work fine none the less.
Are they saying $700 for the new pixel 5? If so it should be twice as good as the 4a. I don’t know about that from what I’m hearing about the 4a so far as good as it is sounding. In any case I’d wait awhile before buying to see how it plays out with real users.
Back in the day I always wanted to be the first on my block with the newest gadget, I don’t miss those days. My pixel 2 still works great. But android 11 is its last update so between now and android 12 beta I’ll make up my mind.

I watch / follow a lot of tech youtubers and reviewers on YouTube That's just what I was talking about. As far as the highest quality 4K content on YouTube, it's not a necessity like I said, but it would be nice. As far as the first person on my block to theoretically get 5G do I miss those days? Well, not exactly it's still nice to have it, but I'm not willing to pay top dollar for it which is kind of a double-edged sword if you think about it. Yes I'll admit I have had no issues once ever with LTE on my Pixel 3XL with video chatting that's not done in my work laptop, so I can't complain about that whatsoever. It's also due to the app platform you're doing a video chatting on as well of course! As far as the higher bandwidth of 5G, they're not too many applications for it or real life use cases for it yet. That'll come in the next few years.

As far as the price tag of the Pixel 5 versus the 4A, I'm guessing / hoping that it's going to be between 6 and $700 even though that's $100 price gap of course.

Now, to go back to the whole future versus price tag issue, do I need an ultra wide camera lens? No. I really don't. it would be nice to have but I'm not going to miss it if I don't have it I haven't had it all my life of smartphones probably won't miss it still. Having the latest in the greatest pixel will mean something but if it's not much different than my 3XL now and then I'll have to compare apples to apples like we all will have to in a month or so when it comes out. Also, to be honest with you, the first prototype renderings of the back of the pixel 5 were not so looking then what it's shaping up to be right now if you ask me in my own opinion. For example from another feature that I'm not sure if I would miss, is 6 to 8 gigs of RAM. My Pixel 3 XL has 4 gauge of rent. I'm not a heavy gamer I don't need a heavy Android gaming phone. If I did I would get a Galaxy phone or Asus ROG phone 3 and call it a day. I have one puzzle game on my phone and that's about it. That goes back to the whole software optimization from Google thing. I mean of course just like you, I'm very content with what I have right now on my Pixel 3 XL on LTE. We're all big techie nerds, so we're hoping for the best from Google going forward. I mean I also have read rumors that Android 11 has APIs and back end coding for a folding phone straight from Google. But that's all we're saying rumors at this point as well.

I might. I really not having a fingerprint scanner and the bigger battery sounds good. But I'm gonna wait and see how things turn out first. I'm not in any hurry to get rid of my 4XL.

The point I am trying to make too other than it being so darn unreliable with crappy range is, what is it going to offer you that 4G can't? 4G can stream any video at max quality without any problems. VoiP works great, downloads are fast. Really, what else does a user expect do do on a faster connection on a mobile device?
