Hookbill and DA6 - I remember you guys from CB, funny I'm still using my Storm 1 but am contemplating switching to the Droid. I joined AC to learn more about the Droid. What do you guys think? Good move, bad move, pros and cons?

I say go for it.
Its light years ahead of the bb platform.
The only con is that you will not be able to put it down.

I'll be honest. I think that the Storm is still a good smart phone but it really gets blown away by the Droid. The biggest problem a blackberry person would have is the learning curve. It doesn't come with much in directions but there's a ton of help on the web.

There is suppose to be a problem with the camera, though I haven't seen it. Biggest complaint I've heard is quality of the phone itself, but in talking to my wife she says I sound crystal clear.

If you're looking for a phone that does it all at lightning speed, then the Droid is the way to go.

And don't forget if for some reason you don't like it you've got 30 days to exchange. Give it a try.

Awesome. :D
Good thing it was packed or you would be on your 4th S2.
I owned the 8830, 8330, 9530, 9630, 9550 and then went Droid. Havent looked back. I know most of the CB guys stopped talking to me cause I jumped ship but who cares. Or maybe its cause I don't have bbm anymore?:p
They know who they are.

Well, it's not like people in the forum are coming over for Christmas Dinner. I'm still hanging out at Crackberry and I'm talking about the Droid a little in the S2 forum but I'm going easy on them. I know how there blood pressure gets raised when anybody says anything negative about blackberry.;)

Droid is better in just about every way(except email) to the Storm 1.

Browsing the web. Music, speed, games, applications, internet speed, physical keyboard, etc..

Coming from a storm one iPhone pre to Droid this is the best of all small bugs but it does everything I need its fast full featured phone and works like a charm. I even like the hard keyboard

I ran the Storm for 6 months from launch, and swapped to the tour when it launched. THe storm isn't abad phone, its just not a great blackberry. Too many "wait and see"s and "they'll fix that later"s for my liking. I really loved the tour, but the droid makes them both feel like they're from 1985.

Its a shame too, I loved my blackberries all the way back to an 7200 series, but I recently powered the old 7250 up, and realized it runs essentially the same OS as the storm 2. Scary thoguht. Too much evolution, and not enough revolution.

I love my droid. No questions, no caveats, the thing just flat out rocks.

I'll bet for every one of the people who go back to a Blackberry there are 5 of us switching to Droid. The Storm was the only smartphone I had and the only reason I got that was the fact that I was on Verizon. Now I'm glad I stayed with Verizon because the Droid just rocks, no question about it.

In Crackberry I'm polite and tell them that I think the Storm is a good phone but I agree with you. It's at least a decade behind the Droid.

Last year I got a Blackberry Curve, and after seven months I sold it and went back to a clamshell feature phone on Sprint. No regrets on the phone choice, but eventually Sprint gave me the boot for excessive roaming. Verizon was the only carrier I would consider, but refused to get a feature phone on Verizon due to UI and feature restrictions. Having already used a Curve and abandoned it, my choices were the STORM2 or the Droids (I felt the trackball was a weak point on the Curve and wanted to steer clear of another trackball). I have to say I couldn't be happier. My already heavy reliance on Google makes Android the ideal platform for me.

I couldn't be happier with my Droid.. and I'm always finding cool new things to add on it or another reason to love it some more. It was an early xmas from my girlfriend and I honestly can say its the best present ever. which is funny because I got her, her iphone.. but after first playing with the droid and on verizon's network it would be prefect.. and it has not let me down since!

Totally Happy

Totally happy. I even bothered to make a forum account here, just so I could express that. Rare thing.

Long live Droid, finally able to do all the stuff I really wanted to do when I had an iphone!

overall this is a great phone, i have been an avid bb user(thought i would never leave) and have had the 8830, 8330 and storm 1(couldnt stand storm 1 so switched back to curve) and have just recently gotten the droid. was contemplating getting a tour but I feel like its just the same old bb os and its getting kind of old and boring.I do miss bbm partly because i am in college and it seems like everyone and their mother has a bb so it was easy to communicate. Also bb push email was great but I dont know when or if ill go back to a bb, i never thought id say it but its true it seems like android 2.0.1 os is lightyears ahead of bb os. RIM has to pick up their game if they plan on keeping the customers they have. The more i use it the happier i am that i got it.

I like it

I've had my Droid for just a month now, it's my first smartphone and I'm very happy with it! the only problem is that now it's buried somewhere under a couple feet of soft powder snow at Sugar Bowl (a California Ski resort). So yeah I'm bummed...

wouldnt it be sweet if ur droid crawled outta the snow and came backhome to u? that would be a sweet commercial. seriously, sorry to hear that.

I am very happy with my Droid. Best phone i've owned. I had a Storm last year, and fooled myself into thinking I liked it even though I knew in the back of my mind it wasn't what it should have been. After it got updated to 5.0 software, it was good...but still not what I wanted. I've had no such thoughts about my Droid, nor do I think I jumped the gun early on getting it. I'll continue enjoying my Driod while those playing the waiting game on rumors, well, continue waiting. :)

Only 1 out of the 3 people have actually commented on why they decided no. Speak up people!!! ;)

I lovers it sooo much!
However, considering my last phone was a RAZR, I have a feeling pretty much anything would've been an improvement. But with the droid, I made a quantum jump in functionality and features, and everything else. While keeping the thing I loved the most about my RAZR. The fact that it was a tank.

I kept waiting and waiting to get a new phone. First I was going to get the Versa, but it came too soon, before I was due for a reup. Then I saw pictures of the Chocolate, but then Verizon didn't pick that up. Which lead me to leaked shots of the Sholes, where i fell in love. I decided then and there that I was done playing the waiting game and banking on rumors.
Couldn't be happier.

Every day I learn something new about my Droid's capabilities. I really like my Droid, and I'm glad I made the decision to break away from the RIM pack and into the Android world.:)
