Are You Happy With Your Nexus 6?

Ridiculous to disable those things, ever. Everything stays on, always, on my phone.

And battery life still fine.

not me. my philosophy is - if i don't use it i turn it off. i hate waste and inefficiency.

Great feedback thanks! I thought battery would be fine - until reading these comments. My N5 is definitely not lasting beyond 4pm with moderate use. If I get the same results as nerdtopper, I'll be happy. Has anyone noticed if making calls takes a heavy toll on battery life? I'm one of those people that still makes calls throughout the day!

I wouldn't call the size a concern... After 5 days with it now it's going to take some time to adjust fully to this monster of a phone... For me I can pretty much do everything I use to do one handed with my N5.. I can swipe to type with my thumb and I can reach the back button and notification bar with just my thumb and no real adjustment of the phone in my hand.. That said it's a stretch to do it and is uncomfortable to do so... I am more comfortable making those extreme reaches while also balancing the phone with my other hand...

Battery life is night and day vs the N5.... yesterday was my usual heavy usage day and I went 13 hours and 5 hours 10 minutes screen on before hitting 5% remaining.... With the 5 and similar usage it had to go on the charger at least twice during the day to pull that off.... with 3 hours screen on during the work week I was averaging 17 hours total time before needing to charge.. where as the 5 was always on the charger during the workday... Probably 2 hours before lunch and 2 hours before leaving work it was on the charger.... There was no option in the matter.. I'd be lucky to get 10 hours with 2 hours screen time with the 5... So in that regard the 6 is a major improvement over the 5 in battery life.

But I couldn't go back to my N5... I tried to just play with my N5 side by side and after just a few days with the larger screen and front facing stereo speakers.......................... yeah I'll continue to work to adjust to the size.. Couldn't go back at all.... Love it.....

They have already, it's the 2014 MOTO X.

5.2" is not "mini"; it's just... less big.
I know, as you you said, it's probably not happening. But still, in this case, with a 6" Nexus, a Mini version along with it, would have been nice.

I remember when the EVO screen used to be huge. Man times have changed

4.3 was a MONSTER back then.... I remember walking out of best buy with one.... Felt like I had this freaking brick in my hands....

With Steve Jobs saying 3.5 was the perfect size and they would never make a bigger iPhone....

for me, I just can't get over the size and battery life. I getting a little bit more used to it now after 3 days usage, but it's still big. like I said before, I would be ok with it if the battery life is better. I just ordered an oneplus one today. I'll play around both before deciding which one to keep and which one to sell.

Love mine. I am getting good battery life and no real issues except the extremely loud AT&T boot screen. I hate it -- cannot reboot the phone without remembering to bury the speakers in something before that horrible sound. I am sure it can be removed through root, but not ready to root, yet.

I have had about every phone, including the Notes and the 6 Plus, so the size is not an issue at all. You really do get used to it, without even realizing it and pretty soon 5 inches is too small.

I absolutely love mine. I had been waiting for the Note 4 to come out, my upgrade was eligible in June from AT&T. I wanted a phablet as my last two phones were the Samsung Galaxies S3 and S4. Right before the Note 4 came out I started reading about the Nexus 6. I decided to hold off on the Note 4 as I was feeling burnt out on Touchwiz and Samsung in general. I really didn't need a phablet with all those bells and whistles--the S pen, heart rate detector, etc etc.
The Nexus 6 has exactly what I wanted. I know I bitched the loudest about bloat from AT&T and the death star logo on the back...but for some strange reason, there was no bloat on my phone! The usual suite of AT&T crap was not on there! There's a few ringtones, but big deal. And the logo on the back wasn't so obnoxious after all! Even the camera which everyone bitched about is more than adequate for me. The battery holds up longer than my S4 ever did and there is no lag at all. Yeppirs, my happy *** loves dis phone!!

I may still be in her honeymoon period but I like the Nexus 6 more than my Note 4 and OnePlus One. Still, I Think the OnePlus is the best device to get in 2014.

I believe his exact words were "over his dead body".....

The Turbos battery life was better but only slightly in my opinion. I think the trade off in battery life is worth it to gain a much larger screen.
As always, my mileage may vary. I want the battery to tolerate a travel day, with maybe a movie on the plane, etc. When you say "slightly" better, can you be more specific? Thanks.

Do you really mean that? I disagree.

From what I've seen vs my 6+ and the 14 days I spent with the note 4, yes. It is better than the nexus 5, but not by as much as it should be given a 3200mah battery and vanilla android.

Did you have the splash screen? Since the other stuff is removable, I can live with that. But the splash screen, not so much. In addition to my own distaste, there have been a few occasions when I've needed to surreptitiously turn on my phone in a meeting and it would not be good to have it blare out whatever obnoxious tune AT&T has placed there. (And yes, I am on of those people who turn of their phones from time to time.)

In my experience with the Turbo, I found that I could deplete the battery on a heavy day of use, where I couldn't do so with the IPhone 6+ or Galaxy Note 4. The Turbo had solid stand by time and Active Notifications helps to reduce on screen time to save battery life. But the Turbo definitely didn't stand out to me as a stamina champion. I haven't had the Nexus 6 long enough to put it through its paces, but so far it would probably compare to the S5 or G3 in terms of battery longevity. Which for me, is good enough since I rarely stray far from a charger on a typical day.

Gsam tells me I'm averaging 25 hours with 5:20 of screen on time

That is pretty good. There are a couple of you with those kind of numbers. The majority aren't doing that well. Is there anything in particular that you are doing, like turning off location, etc?

Agree. The screen is what uses battery. Leave everything on except the screen and the battery will last for 330 hours according to specs. That's just short of two solid weeks of battery life. If you want more battery life simply turn down your brightness. With brightness at 50% (more than bright enough for indoors), I can easily get 18 hours with heavy use. (I have to get at least 6 hours of sleep.)
