Are you happy with your s6 Active

Had it for 4 hours now, loving it. I had the s4 and s5 active, loved them too. I'm going to use this one for work, its a tough little bugger for sure!

I've owned the phone for about two weeks and I love it. I switched from Apple and getting my music on Google Play was easier than I thought it would be. It's already gone running in the rain. Best part is that I don't have to worry about it. I don't plan on going back to apple for a while.

I love this phone for 3 main reasons: the camera, rugged/waterproof, awesome batterylife.

Hows is the cell reception? I've heard Samsung's have bad cell reception

The reception is excellent on it. It normally isn't the Samsung phones but the carrier's software that causes the problems with this. AT&T did the phone right and does better than most oems with this phone.

If you need a ruggedized phone, this is the best one you can get. I just hope they make the Note 5 or 6 into one.

No "keep screen on when I'm holding it" option like BlackBerry or Xperia (aside from the eyeball detecting thing).

I found an app that tries to do what @maxiang is asking for: [APP][2.2+] Gravity Screen > Turn Scree… | Android Development and Hacking | XDA Forums. I haven't got it to work reliably yet, but there are a lot of settings and it may fit your use case. For me, I've disabled everything in Gravity screen except the in pocket sleep and wake as it totally reminds me of my old MotoX (2013). I love not needing to press the power key after it comes out of the pocket. I've only been using it for about a day now, but battery usage isn't too bad, and accidental screen wakes aren't a problem.

All in all, I echo most of everyone's comments here. The Active is a great phone, but held back by some issues:
  • RAM management
  • for me, phone became super stuttery after about 1.5 months use. Factory reset and it flies again! However, I'm just waiting for the stutter to return and I'll have to repeat the whole process again.
  • I'm not confident that AT&T and Samsung are committed to timely software updates, especially for the Active
  • Not confident of the waterproofing. I'll run it under water/rain, but experienced bad stuff after submersion in a pool.
  • nitpick: clicky sides

Overall, the phone is amazing and the best I've ever had. Some software apps can replicate what I loved with the MotoX and OnePlus software, and I'll cross my fingers that 5.1.1 can solve RAM management and double-cross my fingers that the 'stutter of doom' doesn't return.

The only other phone that peaks my interest at the moment is the MotoX Pure, but it is too big and I'd need to put it in a case so it'd be even bigger.
