Are You Rooted Or Not?

I have decided to make a poll on how many people have rooted their phone(s).

If your answer is YES or NO.. please post why.

I have rooted all three of my phones, beginning with 2 Droid Eris' (my wife's and mine) and most lately, the Moto Droid that I got to replace my Eris after my wife smashed hers. :/

I like the full functionality of my evo the way it came out of the box. Idk why people complain about bloatware, yes is does take up space, but i don't have any issues and i use a 16gb card. It seems to me that many who root are the first poeple asking for help when something isn't working especially when and OTA rolls out. I like my phone to work and it does w/o me having to constantly mess with it.
I have looked at some of the "root or don't root threads," and one of the prevailing reasons for rooting listed is so the user can gain access to more layers of functionality, but the main reason for why you need/want that access is b/c "you can!" Doing something b/c i can doesn't do it for me...
But that's just me. I am aware that there are benefits for rooting, Its just that those benefits aren't necessary for me.
With the large amount of money i spend for these devices and service i want it to work. I guess what i'm trying to say is i don't consider my phone to be a toy. I need it, I use it. I spend time on this forum for knowledge but I don't want to have to depend on it. If i had an extra phone i would probably root it, then i would be able to make a more educated decision as to root my primary phone. I just can't justify having two phones activated for myself when i already have 5 phones on my family plan w/sprint. (3 evo's if anyone cares..i know you don't.)

Yes. I'm root when I need to be on my computers, same with my pocket computers.

I'm with you though. Rooting isn't necessary for the EVO.

I know I would mess up somewhere, so... I choose not too.

No, I am not rooted

I just got my Droid X on Friday and am still getting used to a new OS. I do plan on thoroughly investigating rooting. It sounds like it is well worth it.

I've rooted my HeroC and Evo and enjoy the options available, especially for the Hero. Although I do admit that the Evo was a pain to root because of the different bootloaders, software updates, etc. Finally got it after a few attempts and what seemed to be a brick at one point. lol

Rooted for flexibility and customizability. My LG Optimus S from Sprint had Sprint ID locked in, taking up one of three launcher buttons on the home screen, and its only purpose was to install a bunch of bloatware. Rooted to install custom recovery and custom ROM. Now overclocked 33% over stock tripling my benchmark scores and running much more smooth/snappy.

Plus I are an engineer. If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is.

I rooted my DX after having it about a week. The added functionality is worth it. I made sure I knew pretty much everything about rooting and unrooting before I did it though.

I just flashed my first ROM a week ago and am wishing I would have done that a long time ago.

I have an Eris as a back up and rooted and flashed a ROM onto that also and once the update comes out for the Fascinate I'll be rooting my girlfriends phone also. She wants all the "fun stuff" that I have.

I rooted my droid x to flash custom roms and to learn something new. I had the phone 3 months before I rooted and after root it's like I had a new phone all over again.

Rooted, custom Rom/ Theme and Overclocked. Not really worried about the warranty. I don't think I've ever used a warranty on anything in my life. I'll take my chances. I have better odds of losing or breaking my phone before I void a manufacturer defect. If I do I will buy a new one.
I know that's not an option for everyone so if you don't know what you're doing....play it safe and don't go bricking your phone unless you can afford to buy a new one.

As soon as i got my Captivate i rotted my phone. It was well worth it to me and simple as can be just had to install .zip file and boom my phone was rooted. Hats off the Samsung for being hacker friendly. But beyond that im glad i did because i have been running Froyo for a while now. While the Cappy still is on 2.1 and i like the number of different ROMS available for the cappy

In the rooting world, who made the phone doesn't matter. Heck, you could have samsung and root it like any other phone. Whether you hate on samsung or not, I'm playing around with my Epic 4g running Viper Rom 4.0.4 that is O/C to 1.2 ghz

I am rooted on my evo The reason why I rooted was for more functionality. I had to fight off the urge to root for a month because it voids your warranty, but I eventually rooted. Now I am in love with rooting. I don't know how I ever lived without it.

I am not rooted YET! Only have had my DX for a few weeks. Once this is done I'll also root the wifes DInc.

Just wanted to learn as, me much as I can before rooting.

I rooted my Evo so I can get it's full potential. That includes free 3G & 4G tethering, Roms (Which makes your phone feel like a new device) & Getting rid of Sprint's bloatware.

Not rooted since all attempts at rooting my intercept have failed. Wish it was as easy as WebOS where you just type in the Konami Code and boom DeveloperMode enabled.
