Nah, battery life has been pretty bad, the ui is laggy beyond belief and I since 13b dropped my power button is wonky, I press it to turn my screen off and it immediately turns back on. Happens about 60 percent of the time. Im done with LG. Im debating on trying the Moto X Pure, but Im not sold on the SD 808 after this phone.
Are you still happy with the g4?

I'm still very happy with mine, though I think the G4 might be LG's biggest black-eye.

When I see all these issues people list I do wonder if this is a result of them constantly dicking around with their phones and installing all kinds of junk, optimisation crap and custom roms. I look on XDA etc. and all I see is a forum full of folks who are experts at screwing up or bricking their phones.

I doubt it. I'm pretty sure many of the posts I've seen mention being stock. It's also known Sprint had a recall on theirs already, which wouldn't have happened if this were only related to owners messing around with things they shouldn't be (from a warranty standpoint). My Verizon version is still working fine and I am happy with it from a performance standpoint. I do know some Verizon phones have suffered as well, so that does have me a little worried. Thankfully I opted for the extended warranty, which I chose after being burned on my last phone that failed right after the factory warranty expired. It may be a slight hassle, but I have a backup phone and I know I'm covered on this one if needed.

LOL, that's pretty funny. I agree with you, I have no problems at all with my stock at&t version. No lag, camera works great, and as far as battery goes, is there a phone out there that gets good battery life? Every forum on here, people ***** about their battery life.

Actually, even fully-stock ones are suffering from the issue.
It's got nothing to do with rooting. It's an issue with the motherboard and even LG knows that. That's why they're giving free replacements or repairs to affected users who contact them.
Probably well within the margins of usual hardware failure. If they were all as bad as forum users make out there would be a big news story there.
I still stand by the concept that if you dig closely with 80% of the issues mentioned on forums like these, you'll find the root (ha) of the issue is the user and their fiddling with it in some way. Usually trying to make it do something it wasn't designed to.

Do a factory reset and see if helps.
Yeah I've done that. It works for awhile then it just mucks up as usual. Im a moderately light user, I don't play games, I don't run optimization apps or anti-virus apps. Just a normal dude with a few well known apps and nothing crazy. It just bogs down and stutters frequently. The phone gets incredibly hot some days and drains 50% or more within 3-4 hours of really doing nothing in my pocket.

I got no issues at all with my G4 since got it last Nov. it is the best android phone I ever got.

I have had my g4 since October 1st. One issue I had was with the laggy keyboard. I switched to SwiftKey and the issue was solved. The other issue was battery life.. I will admit I am a Heavy User. I also live near, and visit the Walt Disney World Resort weekly and the coverage in the Parks is sparse. With an 9000 milliamp external battery pack and 3 spare batteries and an lgg4 USB oem battery charging pack I stay charged. I'll plug in the oem spare battery charger into the Brick and let it charge in my back pack while roaming the theme parks. My phone battery dies, then I switch out and go from 0% to 100% in 90 seconds. Kind of annoying sure, but I hate having a cord coming out of my pocket attached to my phone when I need that snapshot

I didn't have some of the hardware problems others had early on (touchscreen sensitivity, heating up, poor battery life, etc.), but am slowly getting "nickle and dimed" to frustration by little nagging software issues that I'm sure (hope) a Factory Reset will cure - sometimes phone won't answer no matter what I do, some specific ringtones assigned to particular callers in my contacts list don't work, "answer by putting phone to ear" no longer works, WiFi at my shop almost never auto connects, two tap screen wakeup only works 75% of the time, lunch camera with volume down button only works 75% of the time, drops specific contacts from their Speed Dial assignments, etc.
I would try a cache clear first; get to that in the same "recovery menu" as FDR. If that doesn't work then possibly do a FDR.

Having a hard time navigating to the cache. FDR, in the Backup and Reset section on my Settings, doesn't seem to show a Clear Cache option. How do I get to it?
I believe the procedure is:
1. turn phone off
2. press power & vol down
3. do NOT release either until "recovery menu appears"
4. use vol (up or down) to go to option you want - clear cache
5. use power button to select
6. let it do its thing, should just restart, does take time - several minutes
or google "how to clear cache on LG G4" or "go into recovery" - I guarantee there is a youtube video

In recovery menu - should be
"wipe cache"
on my Verizon the menu is called "System recovery" - options are continue power up, safe mode, USB debug mode, FDR,Wipe cache, or power down
