As an S20 owner, how you feel about iOS 14 features?

But hasn't it always been easier to use Google services/apps on iOS?? I have had Google apps on my iPhone when i was using it or on my iPad Pro forever.

Checking this tweet... is this a feature of iOS14 where you can set double tap to open an app... or Google Assistant setting to enable double-tap on back?? I didn't even know iPhone has a sensor on back to even detecting taps lol. If Google, it seems they always make their apps better on iOS than on it's own platform.

If I'm only using Google apps, it's been fine. Links in Gmail would open in Chrome, instead of Safari for example. Now when I click on links in text messages, I can have them open in Chrome instead.

No it hasn't because of the way they don't allow integration. Also people correlate Google with Android. Yes same company but different divisions just like Samsung with their screens. iOS gets more attention due to it being more popular and also (my opinion) not integrated into the hardware so they go out of their way more to release features to them first to keep consumers into their products.
Agreed, its different now because you can make certain Google apps the default apps.

Re: iOS 14

Which features?

I'm just guessing but maybe the more hardware related ones... Maybe the Bluetooth switching when you have airpods and you put down your iPhone and pick up your iPad or MacBook and airpods automatically switch??

Maybe the Apple CarKey? That would be cool unlock your 2021 wit your iPhone 6s lol.

This makes me want an iPhone even more now that they're getting many Android software features. I currently own zero Android phones for the first time in a decade as I'm using an iPhone 11 Pro Max as my daily driver. Now that iOS is getting widgets, an app drawer, and picture in picture, I see no need to ever go back to Android. With Apple, I can go to any Apple store to get my phone repaired or replaced if anything happens to it. Plus, regular security updates and how ubiquitous the phones are essentially means there's no reason for me to go back to Android.

Saw this on reddit and thought it was extremely humorous. Just another reason why Android is the king of customization. Screenshot_20200623-193001_Reddit.jpeg

It's good. iOS is clean and smooth but having all of your apps on your homescreen - even if you can put them into folders - makes things cluttered. It's good to have more features and more options.

Personally, I think they should have been there already - even just as a choice and/or things to toggle on or off.

Either way, I'm glad that iOS 14 has seen the light!

I do like how it will allow them to have incoming calls as a push notification instead of taking up the whole screen. That is something I hope Android implements sometime.

Agreed....it's good that they have seen the light. It took them 13 years to do so with a couple of features so I'm wondering why now. In any event, it's always good to see improvements even if they are late to the table.

Good stuff I guess. Funny I really don't use widgets and stuff on Android so I don't know if I'd use a lot of the "new" features but there are some stuff. I know most may not want to but if you want to watch a quick overview, MKBHD did a really nice vid.

It's good because Google and Apple kind of feed off each other when one releases new features on their phones the other will usually respond so you might see some things you'd like to see Android have next time around.

I don't know if Android already does it but... I liked the stacked widgets that MKBHD showed... stack widgets on top of each other to take the same space and swipe the area to swipe into the next widget you added. The programmable double tap or triple on the back of the screen to open certain apps. And then MKBHD showed that the camera app was not one you could program in... that you can get around it by using Apple Shortcuts.. kinda like Samsungs Routines. Interesting.

You can't be serious. Android had been doing this for years at least Samsung and LG has. I can't believe it took Apple 13 years to implement this feature.

Guess I should've uploaded screenshot with previous comment, but that's not a feature that Android lacks. It's crazy when things come to Apple they are all of a sudden must have features. Been that way for me. 20200623_211132.jpeg

Yes, I use this feature all the time since I'm usually doing something else at the same time as I'm talking on the phone.

You are right that Apple and Android feed off of each other and their rivalry does spark some interesting innovations - even mimicry. Thanks for the video link - I'll check it out!

Competition is a very good thing. While I will probably always prefer Android over iOS, I hope Apple makes their own innovations, that will in turn result in Android making its own to counter that. Which in turn results in better products from both camps.

Exactly right. It's a very good thing.
