Ask us about the Verizon Droid Incredible

I don't see google earth. Anyone find it in the market on the incredible? my buddy can do a search for it on his nexus 1 in the market and find it no problem. Anyone else having this problem..? Also, any way to install market apps to the on-boaerd 8gb storage? I just see my apps going on the phone memory rather than the 8gb on-board memory.

Yes Gogle Earth is mysteriously missing (though you can load live wallpapers from it and the GPS to Google Earth is also there).

No you can't save apps to the storage space.

if you do this (you can also try out the eris if you really want as it has flash lite as well) keep in mind the devour and the eris both have substantially slower processors compared to the incredible.

but, until 10.1 comes out, don't expect anything spectacular

Yep. Understand Flash Light isn't Flash. It makes the banner adds work and your embedded videos show up but they still open in the native player. Flash Light is nice but it's really just a bandaid so your pages look a little more like they are supposed to.

Ah, i didn't phrase that well. I mean emails to one of my gmail accounts FROM a certain address. There are emails (say from a certain website alert) that I like to see in my mailbox on the web, but don't like pushed to my phone. I.e. lemurs@monkeys.com sends an alert to my gmail and while I like to see that in the web browser on my PC, I don't want to get an email alert on my phone every time a new monkey video is released. :-)

(No such site exists, that was merely an example)

No I dont believe there is a way to do this. Your "lables" (filters) do seem to transfer to the Gmail app if that helps.

Hey guys I have an old outdated LG Voyager that interrupts me whenever I am using the browser or music player every time I get a text, email, ect. Now I know they advertise the MotoDroid as not interrupting you and rather "hiding" the notifications until you want to view them. Does the same apply to the Incredible? My other question is does the Incredible run VZ Navigator or just Google Navigator as I heard that Google Nav is not as good as Vz Nav.

Unless you have installed a third party app which circumvents it yes all of your notifications are in the notification area, same as any other android device however if you have something eet to an audible alert then yes that would inturrupt your music/video.

Currently I don't see VZ Navitagor available for Incredible BUT I see it for the Droid and Devour which tells me it is probably coming to Incredible.

I like Google Maps Nav but VZNav is more accurate.

One quick question. I used 2 different Incredibles today at 2 VZW stores. I noticed that I couldn't find Google's News and Weather app/widget. Do you know if this is available for the Incredible, and if so, how do we find it?

Nope, all the stock stuff is gone, replaced with Sense versions. There are third party google news widgets in the Market though.

I couldn't find this in this thread at least, but does anyone know how long Verizon is taking to ship pre-orders? If I ordered Monday morning, would I get it before the Thursday release? Oh, and do they charge State sales tax if you order online?

Yes they charge sales tax and supposedly of you had ordered by 4:30 today you would be guranteed delivery tomorrow. The pre orders for last week were shipped Sunday regular 2 day and most got them today.

new to droid and getting the incredible but was wondering if i will be able to sync multiple gmail calendars with this phone? if anyone can help that would be great thanks

Yes this is a standard feature of Android 2.xx and I am glad to see that they did not cripple this with Sense.

I imagine that it is easy to move my SD card from my Moto Droid to a Droid Incredible.

How do I transfer the apps? How do the paid apps attach to the phone? (I hope that it is by phone number or email address.)

Thanks

As I understand it (I don't have one that large to test with) it will read the card but is not capable of formatting it which is no big deal unless you wanted to wipe the card or had problems and wanted to re format it and in that eventuality you would just use the memory card reader in your computer.

I am anxious to get the Incredible in my hand to compare to the Eris at which I fell in love with at first...... slow response on 1.5 is unforgiving though.....Sounds like there is no comparison...

This phone blows Droid Eris completely out of the water. I didn't get the Eris for the same reason you state (well that and the fact that it is really just a re-branded Hero). This one has none of the slow response time of the Eris. It even blows the Droid and iPhone 3G S out of the water in that regard.

I am currently a Storm 1 user and have been waiting for this phone...

I'm not sure if these have been answered but:

1. The blinking notification LED, can it be changed to other colors?
2. I've noticed on my friend's Moto Droid that it constantly blinks green (for service i assume). I'm guessing the Incredible has the same thing from previous posts. Can that be turned off?

The light is on and blinks if you have a new notification. No you cant turn it off as far as I can tell.

No other colors either. I believe the Droid shows red when the battery is low but I haven't tested that on the Incredible yet.

Google Earth! I do commercial roofing and was looking forward to use this bad ass phone to look @ projects on the go and I can only find google maps on the phone. Were and or how can I get GE on my new Incredible? Kick ass phone by the way big red was nice enough to send mine two days early.

There has been a glitch where Google Earth sometimes shows up in the Market on Moto Droid with 2.1 and sometimes does not. Apparently it isn't fixed yet. Just keep looking. I'm not seeing it either but I do have it on my Droid.

i'm new 2 android phone just got incredible. what should be the must have apps. coming from a blackberry! thanks

I know I can set this up going through gmail (you have a nice long article) but if I don't want my mail to say gmail id for pop3 id - how do I set it up?

HTC has their own email client preinstalled so you can set it up the same as any other email account if you want (enbale IPAP or POP in Gmeil on the web)

Saving Changes on Work Screen

How do I save changes before I exit out of one of the Scenes. I went to the Work scene, added a bunch of widgets and when I went back to the Play scene, it asked if I wanted to save a custom scene - can't I just save it as Work? What am I missing? Thanks!

push email for pop3 a/c s

HTC has their own email client preinstalled so you can set it up the same as any other email account if you want (enbale IPAP or POP in Gmeil on the web)

If I want it to push messages i have to go through gmail and then the problem is that replies say gmail a/c on behalf of the other pop3 a/c. The article http://www.androidcentral.com/using-gmail-your-own-personal-push-mail-server does not address this. There have even been some posts mentioning the issue. I remember there had been an article with a solution but can't find it. Could it have had something to do with creating a "pseudo exchange server" to get push for the pop3 accounts??? Do you know anyone I could ask???
