Asks for PIN After Fingerprint

After 9 months of owning a 6P, the finger print reader is starting to act up...it asks for the PIN generally 20% of the time when trying to unlock (not including initial unlock after reboot). Im sure i just have to re-register my finger but now i see what others are complaining about.

Even worse for me. Now that my 6P doesn't accept fingerprint and requires pin. But all I used the two years are fingerprint and pattern. After several attempts at the pin, I am now down with 2 last chances to get the pin. Fxxk me

it does it for me too every once in a while i think phone might go into soft reboot however I am on the beta software so maybe that has something to do with it.

Is this behaviour new in 6.0.1 or 6.0 (I don't know what the recent update to my Galaxy Tab S2 replaced)?

Until now, I was happily getting in with just fingerprint, even after a boot.

The setting is PIN,Fingerprint though I would happily reverse that, if it were possible.

Your best bet would be to ask that question in the Galaxy Tab S2 forum - devices from different manufacturers appear to behave differently in this respect so any answer you get here will be meaningless.

I had the same exact problem. Uninstalled a locking app (which was a device administrator) and now it never asks for pin after fingerprint authentication, unless i reboot my phone.

I think I know what's happening. It was happening to me. I was using the trick with nova launcher and another app to be able to lock my screen by double tapping it. After I did away with it the behavior stopped. I've gone an entire week without rebooting my phone, and in that time not once was I asked for a pin. Now pin is only required after reboot, as it should be.

This worked for me. It is a Device admin problem with finger lock not getting device admin. Works fine when Nova double tap set to Accessibility on, not Admin for screen lock in Nova. On my Uelfone Note 13P. 9-20-22

Not sure your aware but this a older thread and that member hasn't been active since 2018 so you might not get a response back
