assigning message tones to contacts?

Can someone tell me if its possible to assign different message tones to different contacts please, as Im unable to find how to change this, thanks in advance

From what I understand you would need another app to do the messaging tones. The stock contact only does ringtones. I use Go SMS Pro to assign unique messaging tones to different contacts.

Ive got that installed as I had it on my last phone too but cant remember how to do it via Go SMS.

Ah, need to go into settings then individual settings then select or add the person and set the ringtone and vibration settings to what you want.
