You have to go into settting and change the hold down home button to bring up menu button and the dots will go away w the black bar

Settings -> Display gestures -> Home -> Swipe up for google now, press and hold for menu

Still no update available for me yet.

None for me yet either.... I've tried the date trick, and it tries... and tries... and tries... Just keeps saying "Checking for a software update"... FOREVER!!!

Do I have to be on wifi to download the update?

I had the same question earlier - yep. I tried to kickstart it at work but it didn't actually start until I got home and connected to Wi-Fi

so i downloaded the update but it didnt install because the update took my battery down to under 35% and now its up to 35% and i cant figure out how to install the update. I went to at&t update and tried to press continue update but it wouldnt do anything. anyone know what to do

When my download got stuck, I turned wifi off and then back on to get the download moving again.

Had to reboot, check for updates for it to finally download. It's just downloading at a snail's pace...

To those that updated: Do any of you have a persistent "AT&T" in the top left of the status bar when you don't have any notifications? On 4.1.2, it would appear there after unlocking and then disappear. After updating to 4.3, it only fades away if I have a notification. I'm not sure what to do if this is a bug because restarting doesn't help.

Nope. Been downloading for 3.5 hrs. 52%. Driving me nuts...

I use the Power Toggles notification widget and that makes it go away. Not sure why but it works.

Nope, it actually goes away faster for me. About 1.5 seconds.

ETA: I do have a persistent icon for my work email app so maybe that's why.

You have to turn on the hold for menu option. It's under Display and Buttons settings for the Home button I think.
