You know what I think has happened here - I think quite a few people bought Note 9s from places other than Samsung or Carriers and they came through with really old firmware! So old, in fact, that they won't auto-update! I've noticed it in several of the posts that you've been trying to help folks with - they've had phones they just got but firmware that went back to when the phones were first introduced - that's bull! No wonder the darned things won't work... when they try to update, the auto system doesn't even recognize the firmware that's on the phone any longer because it's not on their server any more!
I personally tried that and it just says I'm up to date but I know I'm not.

Make sure preference latest software update is checked
I saw you mention that to someone else awhile ago and I've had that checked ever since . Just looked at it again to confirm.

Edit: Smart Switch says your device software is up to date : RJA(ATT)
Since you are on ARJA, you should be able to update to Pie through firmware.science. Flash yours to ARJ2 then to CSAA.
They just keep finding a way to win... it's incredible to watch. Somehow, they've drilled into everyone that no one is special - they are family! Every single person is playing for each other and working for each other, and it's been that way for many years now. It's actually starting to rub off on the other Boston franchises... the Red Sox played that way this past season - scary! No more super stars... once the other teams start to figure that out, they'll come around! If you look at the Patriots players, every year, they start with a whole new group basically. Kraft refuses to spend crazy money keeping anyone who doesn't want to stick with the "Team" approach and let's them go. So, almost every year, they start slow and rebuild, except for a core of 5 to 7 Team guys that hold it together... and by the end of the season "We're Still Here"! (That was actually aimed at Boston Sports Commentators who wrote them off at the beginning of the season!)Pat's are unbelievable....A football dynasty

I've got it in certain area, but don't get fooled 5GE is fake same speed as 4G LTE, 5G doesn't come out till at least 2020 or 2021 around there.
Not every case. I got mine directly from ATT and I was on July security patch on two different Notes for a long time before the members here helped me to update up to the December patch. I have never gotten any updates from ATT.You know what I think has happened here - I think quite a few people bought Note 9s from places other than Samsung or Carriers and they came through with really old firmware! I don't think it is official ATT either. It looks like an unlocked firmware but I could be wrong. Please report back on how it goes.
