AT&T OTA rolled out?

Re: At&T OTA rolled out ..

Ive come to find that the word nexus doesn't mean anything to Att, like the old commercial take a number and step aside!!

Re: At&T OTA rolled out ..

I have a nexus 6 on Att and I got the 5.1 update finally and I had to remove sim card, reboot, and do a factory reset with all my stuff backed up.it went through process of WiFi setup and gmail account and 5.1 update popped up.seems to run alot smoother time will tell.theres something about the sim card holding it up again.

Yep. I just did that process too. And it worked. Running good on 5.1

Agreed! The D update is running well on my Nexus 6. I'm also on ATT and I have been running the update for almost a week. Very smooth, reception is good as is bluetooth in my car etc. Anecdotally the battery life seems better. I have not kept track but it seems when I have checked my battery at the end of the day I have been pleasantly surprised.

Nothing yet in SoCal. Will try removing Sim. Be nice to get it without resetting.

Re: At&T OTA rolled out ..

I know this does not help when you are feeling impatient, but it takes several weeks for updates to roll out to your nexus. Seems like it used to be faster but things have slowed down. The Nexus still gets updates before pretty much other phones. Many non Nexus brands are just now getting lollipop. A certain % of phones will get the updates and it increases as the days go by. If you hit check update and do not get it the chances of getting it for that day are almost 0%. Lots of other tricks etc to try and get the update pushed to your phone, some work, some are iffy.

I too was getting impatient back in the Nexus 4 days so I learned to side load OTA's and to flash factory images. The hardest part of that process is getting the computer to recognize the drivers and if you can do that the rest is so easy. Lots of videos showing the process also. It might be worth checking out since it seems it does take longer and longer to get the updates.

I believe more of a cautious stance from carriers att in general.... 5.0,5.01 let's be honest Google somewhat drop the ball on the goal line here... Lollipop is the next evaluation and its amazing but google maybe should have delayed the release by a couple months to make sure all was good.... So google didn't release it in 2014 OK I would be OK with it delayed for a better less buggy release.....

Should be in this order as in updates IMO....
NEXUS 4,7,5,7,6,9....😁

Damn you AT&T!
Doing what PhoneArena said worked. As soon as I entered my Google information and it started downloading apps I got the 5.1 update notification.
In all honesty, the only reason why I have AT&T is because work paid for my Nexus 6 through AT&T. If not I would probably still be paying Verizon and would have forked over a few hundred for the Nexus 6. I shouldn't even be complaining about 5.1 since the phone and the service were free. :p

Glad there is a method for those that do not want to wait for ATT's nonsense. Glad I learned how to sideload and flash images. Even though I use ATT, I control the updates for my Nexus 6 not ATT!

I did it too and I am useless at this stuff....only issue I had was I have 2 Step Verification on and needed to get the code when restoring , luckily I had my old phone with Google Voice # and got the code ....installing now ....umm , so it's working , I go to the gym to let all 77 apps optimize and update.....been nearly two hours and they are still updating in the Play Store.....that seems like a long time.....I did get a Google Play Services error ?

So, just tried downloading Facebook, it just keeps installing but never installs????,

Yeah, the updates froze on me too. Just cancel them and restart it. If that doesn't work, reset the phone. Worst case, I read a factory reset helps after doing this SIM card trick.
