Well I'm sure nobody is exactly surprised that AT&T is following suit behind the other big 4 US carriers. I guess the good news, if you can call it that, is that AT&T came back with the smallest increase. $5 for AT&T as opposed to $10 for Sprint, $15 for T-mobile, and $20 for Verizon. Though I believe T-Mo customers who already have the $80 unlimited rate can keep it.

I almost thought this would come since Verizon is doing it. Theirs isn't as drastic as Verizon but.. This starts the ladder of slowly climbing.

From my browsing on reddit the unlimited plans are all soft capped at 22 GB.. Is that correct?

EDIT: never mind. Saw that also on the AC main site.
I would be unhappy if i was an ATT customer who had a grandfathered unlimited plan, then got throttled after 22 GB, and now have to pay $5 more..

As it stands now Verizon is the only carrier that doesn't throttle. I got throttled to near 2G speeds on AT&T yesterday. I still have my Verizon unlimited line. That extra $20 doesn't look so bad now.

Im glad i am with TMO. But then again i also have yet to go over 20GB ever in a month.

Verizon's increase is when you're off-contract. AT&T's is on-contract and they're giving you a free out if you don't like it.

I acquired an AT&T unlimited line off eBay after Verizon announced their $20 increase. Been a Verizon customer for 14 years, and a T-Mobile customer for 2 years. I get non-stop slow speeds at my house and my job(in NYC), like I am constantly being throttled. I am about to unload this line. I still have my unlimited on Verizon.
