AT&T gave me $1,000 off the Fold 4. My trade in was an old broken Note 4. I'm paying only $800 for the Fold 4.

Basically AT&T is giving a $1,000 credit for your trade in for any Galaxy phone as far back as the Galaxy S6, in any condition, it doesn't even have to work.

Best deal I heard of yet.

And yes, the Fold 4 is amazing. My first Foldable phone.

Wow that's an amazing deal!

Messaged you in the other thread without seeing this. But congrats on the deal.. that's awesome! And welcome to the Fold!

I just read about the deal on the ATT side - so you have to buy the phone outright at the regular price with a 36 month installment plan, and then you'll be given the $1000 back in equal credits over the life of the installment plan? Ughhh, while it's nice you can trade in any Samsung Galaxy and in any condition - I am not a fan of getting my trade-in over the course of a 3 year period, but then again you are paying it in installments. So I guess you get charged 1/36 the full cost each month, but then you will get a credit of about $28 each month.

I doubt I will still have this phone in 36 months. lol

Yea, but in the end I still get the phone for $800 instead of $1,800, big difference in price, that works for me. When the Fold 5 comes out I can simply pay off the phone which will be half of the $800 to upgrade instead of paying half of $1,800. Paying off half of $800 vs $1.800 is a no brainer. I upgrade my phone ever year so 36 months is a non factor to me.

I think you're going to have a surprise when the fold 5 come out. If I'm understanding your deal is like Verizon does. On your bill your going to see $1,800 for the phone with payment of $50 a month. Then you see a credit of $27.78 so you will actually only pay $22.22 a month. So 12 months from now they are going to show you paid $266.64 and still have a balance of $1,533+ if you want to get the fold 5.

You basically entered a 36 month contract that you can pay off whenever, but the $1,000 credits are given out monthly. If you pay off 12 months from date of contact you lose the 24 months credits not given yet.

It's a good deal if you are one that keeps your phone forever, for most on here this deal is a bad one as we upgrade yearly, some every 6 months.

Totally agree with you on this.

Well that sucks. I had a feeling the trade in was too good to be true LOL. I'm glad you explained this to me.

I thinking about just skipping the Fold 5 and pay the last remaining year off and upgrade when the Fold 6 comes out.

Or hell, at this point I might take the phone back while I'm still in my return period.

That's how carrier deal with sales. I noticed this as well way back when. So yeah, read the contract very closely how you're getting your $1000 back.

I most definitely will read the contract closely next time.

I decided I'm going to take this phone back while I'm still in my return period.

I'm going to purchase the phone again and put some cash down on it to pay off a lower bill than the original $1,800 price.

Smart call. I abandoned the major carriers a long time ago. Their games are not worth it to me anymore and I cannot imagine financing something like a phone.

I'm in year 2 with Mint Mobile. Where I am, T-mobile is great. We pay $360/year for unlimited per line ($30/month) and we save cash for our phones. The difference alone between Mint and the alternatives is $400-$450/year which is money that goes directly towards a phone replacement.

Well if you plan on keeping the phone 3 years it's a good deal. Maybe even 2 years, I just wanted to explain it better.

Did you trade in your phone yet, I'm guessing you won't get that back if you did.

Yeap, I traded in my phone already. It was a broken Note 4 so its not really a big loss.

I'm heading back to the store tomorrow to return it. Then purchase the phone again, but this time I'm going to drop some cash down on it so I don't pay the full $1,800 over the course of the contract.

I currently have the grey green color, I'm going to go with the beige color for the new purchase.

Yeah, I mean "unlimited" = 35 gigs of 5G and 5GB of tethering but neither my wife nor I use that. I've tried to use it all and burned through 32GBs once. For us, and the quality of their network where we live, it's perfect. Plus I have a work line I don't pay for through Verizon to fill in any gaps which is surprisingly very rare.
