AT&TNote 3 - Friday, September 27th @ Best Buy???

my dialogue from a rep:

shortened . . .
Ricardo: I'll be more than happy to answer your questions!
ray: well my question is when is the shipping date for the preorders for the note 3. Best buy said it will be sold in store and online on the 27th but release date is the 1st for preorder
Ricardo: Let me verify that for you.
Ricardo: The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will be shipped on October 1, 2013.
ray: aww
ray: so what is the benefit of us preordering
ray: if we can walk into best buy?
Ricardo: The benefit of preordering is that you will be ensuring you will get the device instead of making a line for hours and risk not being able to get the phone.
ray: i see
ray: that is pretty unfortunate but i appreciate the help. Thanks

tldr: you can get the phone from best buy first, but that requires effort.
Spectre, I had a similar conversation today. I wonder how many people called AT&T to see if they were going to ship and be delivered by the 27th. My conversation started out with questions about cancelling my pre-order and getting the settings on my account back to being allowed to upgrade so I could do it at the store. My rep very nicely but firmly said I should not cancel, I might not be able to get the same plan and it could cost me more by going to the store. Her date for shipping was the 1st. Within hours after my call, Best Buy date for the AT&T Notes was up to Oct. 4th.
I think we should all band together and threaten a class action suit for cruel and unusual torture.

Maybe someone goofed up and selected the wrong Friday when updating the website? Way to get rabid pre-orderers hopes up, BB

I think this is the answer. When I walked into Best Buy, and asked. They didn't hesitate to give me a definite October 1st. AT&T told me they would have plenty, and as a walk in that day, I would have no problem buying. Even off contract.

So, based on conversation here and actually what AT&T is promising, I would say anyone who preordered with AT&T will get their phones no later than October 3rd.

Phones would ship on the 1st via free 2-day shipping.

If they're available in the stores on the 1st then the 3rd is not good enough service for those who pre-ordered. I'll be picking mine up in store if they're available there first. AT&T can deal with the return/cancelation of my preorder.

It is interesting that on the AT&T site now if you go to order the phone it says it will ship out ON October 1st. Previously it said on or around October 1. Seems like AT&T has made the ship date pretty concrete now, at least for people who go and order online at this point.

I am betting though that people who preordered will have theirs shipped come tomorrow for delivery by the 1st.

Seems more people are being told now that the AT&T stores will have them for sale on October 2 so this makes some sense, although I was told they would have it on October 1 in the store, but that was just one AT&T corporate store and the guy could have been blowing smoke.

2 AT&T stores, 1 Best Buy, and numerous reports have all said October 1st for AT&T. That is the official date in which we can walk in, and buy this device.

Agreed. I pre-ordered from a corporate store and it's being shipped to the store. Ship date says 10/1 - 10/2 but if there are Note 3 units in-store ON the first, I'll just get one from there and they can deal with the mess of refunding my credit card.

I contacted a couple AT&T stores and Best Buy mobiles to see what they would say. AT&T knew nothing specific other than the original Oct 1 release. Best Buy said their computer system has Oct 1 as the release date now. So it's hard to say what that's really based on. I won't expect mine any earlier than NEXT Friday but if it comes in sooner, great. So pissed off at everyone on how they handled this situation. In this fight Apple wins for consistency and communication under short notice. Oct 1 should mean Oct 1 not Oct 1-4.

How does Apple win vs. Samsung? This miscommunication seems to be with AT&T and Bestbuy.

Apple is able to work with their distributors who works with the local stores to get the phones on time. I don't know the source of all the screw ups concerning the GN3 but a phone shouldn't ship out on its release date. Best Buy misreported the information multiple times and most of the error lies with them not being truthful with their dates and not communicating between online, stores, etc. If AT&T claims the release date of Oct 1 it should at least make that date in their stores. Right now it sounds like it won't.

I'm not sure where you're getting your info from, but the Note 3 will be available in store for purchase an AT&T outlet on October 1st. I have had multiple locations confirm this, as well as many reports online.

So pre-orders and phones for sale OTC should both arrive that day then? Looks like I have a cancellation to make at Best Buy tonight. There's no other reason for me to keep my pre-order there. Besides, they screwed up my plan and I was without texting for a couple days the last time I had them do anything for me.

I'm not entirely sure about preorders from Best Buy, but my experience with preorders from AT&T has generally been a positive one with a fast turn around. However I did have a Best Buy rep confidently tell me they would be getting the phones in store on October 1st for sale which coincides with AT&T. Granted I didn't try to preorder until this week, I had an AT&T employee tell me not to preorder because I wouldn't get the phone until after the 1st, and that they would have plenty available day 1. Good luck to you.

Re: AT&TNote 3 - Friday, September 27th @ Best Buy???

I tell you what, I cannot win for losing. Anytime I don't pre-order those that did get the device a day or two before general public can buy it. If i do pre-order the general public can usually get in their hands before me. Whether that be they can buy in the store early on release date and mine is not delivered til late afternoon or even worse I get it a day or two later. It is really irritating, because i pre-ordered to make sure I get the device first!! Come on AT&T take care of the people who take care of you!

Sorry for the rant. :(

You bring up a couple good points. The only real reason to stick with Best Buy is that they will trade the phone and give me some decent credit based on my perfect condition iPhone. AT&T offered me next to nothing for mine but I could just go with Gazelle which is close to Best Buy's offer. BUT I'd rather not wait 3 extra days for BB. It's just hard to tell which way I should go because of the website change though their computer says Oct 1 it could just be the allowable sales date not the arrival date. If I cancelled now I'd probably just pick one up at AT&T/not preorder like you said. Frustrating...

I just called my local AT&T corporate store (Colonial ave in Fort Myers Florida) and the lady stated "We will have them on display to look at tomorrow, 9-27, but they will not be available for purchase in store until Friday the 4th. I will go there on Tuesday morning and check again, because she only read what was written down, nobody there knew for certain.

a ATT rep told me that the 1st was never the release date to purchase. SO pre orders will still get them first. Why are they so secretive about the release date?

I tried to preorder a few weeks back, and when I received a shipping date of the 1st, I thought "nah that's when they go on sale."

FYI, but October 5th is a Saturday, and the 6th is a Sunday. The Friday you are referring to is the 4th.
