Atrix Gingerbread Initial Thoughts and Issues

I have a question guys/girls, how did you get your update? did you manualy check from settings/about phone/system updates? or did you recieve an official AT&T message? thanks!

I just happened to be on the Motorola site and they had the update there. Then I manually checked the settings for updates on my phone.

So, in addition to this wonderful update frying my radio and turning my Atrix into a WiFi-only device, I observe that the green notification light no longer comes on when the battery is charged. I also observe that the geniuses at Motorola STILL have not been able to figure out how to implement copy/paste in the email function. Even Microsoft and Apple managed to handle that challenge. There are still other text functions which are bug-ridden, as before.

So, what, exactly, was this so-called "update" supposed to improve? The last time Motorola made a good phone was the RAZR.

I got mine via the manual check.

I'd have been waaay better off sticking with Froyo. Live and learn: no more Motorola phones!

Went over tobacco local Starbucks and used their wifi to upgrade. It went smooth without a clitch. Must say not that many improvements from froyo other than cosmetic changes but Im still enjoying it.

Now when are we getting Honeycomb!?

*local Starbucks. Damn autocorrect.

Pulled the update last night by telling the phone to just for update. I have had zero issues. Took about 15 min from start to finish. I was completely stock with ADW for a launcher. Uninstalled ADW (just to be on the safe side lol) and rebooted then ran the check. Been running great all day no reboots and the battery has never lasted so long. I used it like I would any other day since I had to work and wow on the battery.:D

Most people are getting great battery life. I am always the exception to the rule. The phone completed a complete charge at 4:58 A.M. and at about 2:30 P.M. it went from 45% down to 19%. I wish I would not have upgraded the phone to gingerbread. It was rooted with gingerbreak before the upgrade. I am getting programs such as the browser just lock up and you have to do a force close to get it to work. I had no problems with this phone before the upgrade. I guess I am just lucky. Love that update!

Is anyone having issues with testing? Since the update, when I text some people the text will not show up as a conversation. It shows up as if my text are a separate text from the person that is testing me. Sent messages in one conversation and received messages in another conversation.

Mine is doing this and I was just looking around for a fix to it.

I send a text to someone and they reply it shows as if it is a brand new text. I can go into that message they send and reply but it will still have them reply as a new message. For whatever reason they are not staying threaded together.

Manually checked, which is what I have had to for 1.83 as well, I figured it was because I was rooted.

Is anyone's phone pretty lagged now when swiping between homescreens, when before the update to Gingerbread, it wasn't? I didn't uninstall ADWFree before I upgraded (didn't realize I needed to since it's just a regular app, not root or anything...)

Yes, mine very definitely is and I just had the home screen launcher, nothing fancy.

Great. Well, at least I know it's not due to having ADWFree installed.
This is really annoying, though. It makes it difficult to even use my phone. It's like a 1.5-second lag when swiping that I'm waiting on just to see the next screen. Maybe even 2 seconds. Sounds like absolutely nothing but believe me, it's irritating as all get-out.

I take it you haven't seen any fixes for it yet, then? I wonder...if hardly anybody has the issue then it may not even get addressed. ugh. I thought I WANTED gingerbread, now I'm not so sure. I like the new eye candy but...

Yes, it is definitely irritating I agree. I thought I saw someone else mention it but I can't find the post.

I posted in another forum about and if I do get a reply I will post here.

Thank you so much!
I will say that my lag just improved a bit after I did something.
You see, before the update to GB, one of my homescreens was dedicated to simply photos (I think it was the main photo widget). After the GB update, all of those photo widgets on that homescreen (maybe 8-10) said "Problem loading widget". I figured I'd just have to redo them, but didn't touch them for awhile at first. Then, frustrated with my lag, just for kicks I tried removing those widgets that no longer loaded/worked, creating a blank homescreen again. I noticed immediately that the lag was slightly reduced, although still not 100% better. Do you happen to have any widgets on your homescreens that are in a similar situation?

Ok, so here is the issue. Upgraded last night right when I found out about it. LOVED THE UPDATE! However, I get home from work today, go to turn my wifi on and see "error" under the wifi option and it does not work. So, I did a battery pull, no luck. Did a factory reset, no luck. Reset my router, no luck. In the meantime, my phone also power cycles itself every half hour or so. I have no idea where to ever start, can anyone give me some direction on what I should do here????

Got gingerbread last night my photo albums have been merged into one group. They can be separated by date but the original group nanmes are gone. Help

Anyone know how to access the "What's new" gingerbread video? After installation I didn't get a chance to view it when the message popped up...I tried looking in the help center, but all of the videos there are the older, original tutorial videos that came with the phone.
