Works good, charges the phone, controls the phone completely from the remote. Only time you have to touch the phone itself is to change the app your using.

Wow, that sounds perfect for our older vehicles. I was going to get it until I realized I need my FM to be broadcasting a specific station already for my mp3 player to work in the car. I don't think I can have both going at the same time, right? Not sure how that'd work...but thanks for letting me know about this option!

Just set each on its own channel and then set your preset to that.

Like I said, it has a Line in also, so not sure exactly how that works with the phone connected and priority but anyhow its just a matter of tuning each one on its own FM channel.

Oh I see, of course..silly me. I will only need to be on the phone's FM station when a call or msg is going through..otherwise I can keep my FM on the mp3 player station. Thanks!

Well, since i already have a vehicle charger (one with the interchangeable heads) and an XM receiver with cassette adapter (with headphone jack), I bought a generic (read: cheaper) dashboard mount. So for $19, I have a vehicle dock that allows ready access to headphone jack for music player-to-cassette adapter and charger port. Not quite as sexy as the windshield-mounted Moto thing, but actually gives me better sight lines for the GPS and I don't have to lean over to touch screen or read small print.

To those who have the dock working...does your phone automatically switch to car mode when you dock it? Mine doesn't, and all I can find are statements that it should just switch.

For those who are considering any of the docking options, be aware that every time you dock it has to be the bare phone. Slightly annoying if you have a protective case. Most of the time in my car I will be simply using a direct charger from the cigarette lighter. Longer trips or gps usage will warrant the dock.

Yeah, mine just brings up the vehicle dock app within a second or two of docking it. Are you sure the phone is being connected all the way down into the dock? Hmm..

That and you can switch from the home screen to the car screen by hitting the home button. Mine auto switches also though.

Mine switches too. Incidentally, someone posted that the Incipio Feather case does fit in the car dock. I purchased one that day, so when it arrives, I'll tell you if it fits or not.

I'm waiting on my dock... I have the Droid X as well, and the car dock had an extra insert you could take out so it can fit a slim type of case.. wondering if this one has that too.. and agree with everyone, why not have a car charger with this dock, the DX dock came with one.. oh, I can always use the charger from the DX...

But, if you want to use this dock without having to remove a case, you can always use Ghost Armor... I used that on my DX and now ordered one for the Atrix as well...

Hey KoukiFC3S, I also have the vehicle dock and Inicipo feather case but I can't get the dock latch to completely capture the phone. The lip on the latch hits the edge of the case instead catching the front face. It fits good enough to work but I can easily pull out the phone without unlatching so one of these days it will probably come flying out of the dock. Are any tricks or mods required to get this thing to latch?

body glove case works as well, i know there are other options out there (cheaper), but i purchased the dock on launch day and haven't had any issues, nice discount as well due to premier cust , phone was pre-ordered.

Ok, just an update. I have the same issue as jleep. The upper latch is just too short. I don't understand why they made it this way. It seems that if you can remove the insert to allow for a case, the latch should be longer too. Nope, just doesn't work. My Insipio Feather case will be going back. I don't like the feel of it as compared to the considerably cheaper TPU cases.

Well, I measured it as 17 mm DIA (+0/-0.2 mm) from various angles around the ball. I used a Mitutoyo digital caliper.

I was thinking about doing the same thing, since it would take up less space to have a ball on a post and thin metal bracket.

That helps out a ton! So it's not a perfect sphere?! That may throw a wrench in the works. That may force me to customize the bracket itself, which I was hoping wasn't the case, as it will leaves no room for error.

Thank you for the help though, at least that gets me started in the right direction.

Well that's good to hear, so there are some options out there. Since the hand nut can be tightened, you can adjust the resistance of the mount, so you can still tilt and swivel it.

Where did you get that mount? I don't think there's a spot in my car where that particular one would work well but would like to see what other ones are available. Thanks.
