Posted how I got it to work over on XDA, also I sim unlocked the phone earlier today, codes are already available for the D800 (ATT Variant)

What can root do? And you carry a Nexus?

Use apps like Titanium to back up app/settings.
Eventually make a nandroid backup of your system. Etc...

What I mean is it like the HTC One? Unless the boot loader isn't unlock. Root does you no good. So I meant is it like the one?

Titanium backup and a lot of other root apps do not require a bootloader unlock. There are still plenty of benefits from rooting even with a locked bootloader. Replacing ROMs will require a bootloader unlocked, though. I certainly hope that happens.

Root on the One does work! Nothing to do with the boot loader. Root gives u complete access to the filesystem. There are several useful apps that require root, build.prop edits (removed the AT&T from notification bar etc.). Lots can be done with root!
