Attaching photos (Google Messages)

When I press the attach photo symbol on the bottom left of the screen while in a text message thread, my what's app photos also show up. Can I stop them from being suggested? I just want it to show my Google photos. I denied what's app permissions but it still shows up.

I think I found a fix in what's app. I disabled "auto download media" in what's app and maybe that should work.

The text app should show any pictures found by Media Scan - any pictures not protected by a .nomedia file. It has nothing to do with app permissions.
