Fail. All points you attempt after this statement are moot; you may have had a good one in there somewhere, doubtful, but maybe.

Clever. What, you didn't read it but felt like responding anyways? Want me to keep pointing out all of your ******ed talking points?

There is only one HIGH END device from Sprint at this point. Three from Verizon (Droid, Incredible, and Droid X).
LOL, droid. End of life dude. Let's also throw the G1 and Behold II from T-Mo in there as high end. Maybe the Devour, too.
And now the Evo = Droid X.
LOL. Tell that to anyone trying to play a 3D game on the Evo. Or who wants to use Qik/Fring on their Droid X. Or watch HD Youtube on VZW's network.

Look, I don't care about your argument. In fact, I agree with you. Verizon is doing better with phones and customers. But you're still a total ******.

I mean, besides the breaking of forum rules for attacking forum members... oh, and a forum moderator, you might want to chill. I gave you the freebie, do it again, you don't come back here. Consider this your ONLY warning. Same for vteclipsegs, you can debate/argue with me all you like, calling me names and attacking me is your ONLY warning.

If you want to debate views and opinions (none of this is fact, something I have still kept in mind) I am all game, as a matter of fact, I wanted to respond to your points but you went about it the wrong way. If you think you'd like to try it again, I am willing to give my points (or counter points).

What more do you need aside from the Epic and the Evo? The Sprint Super anti-Droid XX0 with a 3ghz processor and 2gigs of ram with a gpu that processes 1000000000000 triangles per second? IMO, Sprint's tied the other carriers, not by sales, not by customers, but by phones. Pricing's the best though (except maybe T-Mobile)

Agreed, but options and ads are what bring customers through the doors. But Ill admit Id rather have sprint service then a plethora of good phones. Oh and before anyone attacks my statements on sprint service can halt right there. I have NEVER been disappointed or let down by data or phone service and the reps I deal with have always been 100% helpful.

So yeah I dont need anything more, just a cool exclusive here and there and a nice smartphone that competes with others. I also have to say Im happy sprint has several qwerty slider androids as opposed to all the slabs out there. SO I guess I could say that sprint does have the best droid selection on the market. :p

Advertising. However... bringing someone in the door is the battle VZW is winning.

That is one of the things sprint needs to do a better job of is marketing phones, especially the cool ones. VZW (while I loath them) would have 3 ads on the epic 4g on the market a month ago making VZW users foaming at the mouth a long time ago rather then just a few geeks on a forum. Case and point my brother and mom want slider droids on sprint but were going to stick with their evos until I told them there may be a phone coming out soon that will suit their needs. I will admit it is sad that I know more about VZW and their line up even though I would never touch their network with a 10 foot pole.

I love Sprint... have 5 lines, love the service. I also have SEVERAL inside contacts with a lot of good info. I've been able to receive scoops and devices much sooner than the general public.

With all that being said, I know something is still missing. They always follow in the footsteps of Verizon. The Nexus One was not released on VZW because they passed on it (probably due to the way it was being sold via Google) so Sprint suffers because Google didn't see it as lucrative enough. I just wish people thought of Sprint as being a heavy hitter when it comes to high end phones. The Pre is mostly to blame, if the device had a different impact it would probably be a completely different game.

Im a HUGE palm guy and the way the Palm pre was handled by sprint AND palm will haunt me for a while. I love this phone aside from the terrible hardware but nobody knows what my phone is nor do they care. While some of the Evo commercials are cool and all, its effort being focused in the wrong place at the wrong time. Those ads should be for the epic 4g not the evo which is sold out. Lets say somebody sees the evo commercial and actually watches it and says to themselves: "Hmmm maybe I should go buy that phone, no wait Im going right now!". Well they will get to the store and most likely be disappointed. Hopefully things will change, but as long as I keep getting the service I have been for 6 years or so Ill be perfectly content.

Sounds reasonable. I was being an a-hole in the way I called you a ******, my bad. You just rubbed me the wrong way at first, but you seem reasonable. Lemme edit together my points:

I agree with your point as a whole. Verizon is doing better with phones and customers. But I disagree with several of your arguments.

Regarding Wimax:
- You can't really compare a service that's available in many big markets to a service that's rumored to be turning on soon, even though there won't be an LTE phone until 2011. And you can't complain too much about the $10 fee... Sprint's plans are still $20/$30 cheaper than the Verizon equivalent even with the $10 fee included. And keep in mind that Wimax gives you true unlimited data, compared to the rumors of upcoming tiered data from Verizon. Wimax may have a couple downsides, but it's still better than anything else available currently (arguments could be made in HSPA+'s favor, but there's no handsets for it yet).

Regarding the Incredible/Evo comparison:
- We can agree the important differences are: HDMI out, LCD vs AMOLED, FFC, internal storage. I would argue that the most important of those to an average consumer are the FFC and *maybe* HDMI out. Most people don't know the difference between LCD and Plasma TVs, and most consumers have no idea what AMOLED tech is. And "internal storage" might as well be Greek to them.
- Also, in a recent comment from you, you said Verizon passed on the Nexus One. That's half-correct... the Incredible was basically the Nexus One with Sense but w/o the simple-rooting.

Regarding High-End phones on Verizon:
- The droid is end of life dude. Can't call it high end, even if it is popular. The Droid 2, however, will clearly be high end, regardless of how steeped in rumors it is.
- The Evo /= Droid X. Point: playing a 3D game on the Evo sucks, no FFC for Qik/Fring on Droid X, slower network for watching HD Youtube on VZW's network.

It was you who first started to make this personal and not about the validity of my statements. If you want to cop out now thats fine, if you feel we've broken the rules enforce the punishment but don't treat us like children or expect preferential treatment because you're a mod on a forum (which you clearly insinuated should be done).

Face it, you got your feelings hurt and now you're going to try and pull your trump card. Accounts are free and forums about android are a dime a dozen, your trump card fails as bad as your talking points.

Doode, I never take the internet personally... no harm. :D BTW, you're originally post made me laugh hard.

My points about WiMax may have been lost in translation. For me, WiMax is a waste due to the speeds vs. battery consumption. Real life, I watched my battery drop 15% in about 10 minutes of using 4G when I got my Evo, and then never turned it on again unless I was testing out the RvU Roms I developed. I originally said LTE was the same, never thought it was better or worse (which can't be argued at all since LTE is unproven/unreleased now).

Evo vs. Incredible: Yeah, that'll come down to preferences. So some will either want the slimmer design of the Incredible (which is very nice in the hand compared to the Evo, for me) and trade it off for not having the FFC. FFC won't be truly accepted until there is a universal standard client/API. As far as the Nexus One, yeah another reason they passed was due to that brand confusion... but if VZW thought it was really viable they would have sold it too. I think they felt like too much control was lost in terms of contracts / subscriber agreements. We know they passed on Apple 3 years ago due to that sticking point.

High End Phones: The Droid can still hang though... that is what the majority of gaming houses are engineering for, the Original Droid (well it's GPU at least). Gameloft predominantly features it on their Android page; and if it came down to it, would you take a Moment/Intercept over the Droid? I personally wouldn't since it still blows all of Sprint's "low-end" Android phones out of the water, including the Hero. But yes, it is EOL... so kind the device is a weird kind of place for now, especially since its AOSP and Droid 2 is expected to have MotoBlur.

Evo vs. Droid X: Now we are comparing the Evo to yet another device from VZW, which is why I made my original point... VZW is pushing em out and even to have 2-3 devices vs. 1 high end device is enough for people to notice. But, I think the same can be said... gaming is much nicer for Droid X vs. the Evo (although, let's be honest, if you didn't have the two devices side by side, the majority would have no clue the Evo had a frame rate limitation) while the Evo has the FFC. The video is nicer on the Droid X for sure but again, unless you were comparing the two devices side by side...

See... more gooder!

Yep you got me... I pulled out the trump card right away... oh wait, rightttt I didn't.

Feelings are never hurt... this is the internet. You're just bringing the quality of this forum down by calling me names. It's one thing to disagree... it's another to call people names over it.

Face it, you were being childish... had no clue you were talking to someone with moderator status (which I never even allude to for the most part because people are rarely like that) and now you're trying to be proud about it. If you think this forum is a dime a dozen, go to another one and call people names there.

If someone couldn't tell you're a mod they have a developmental issue. You really think we don't know this? It doesn't effect me, and again you make it seem like I should act different to a mod, has never happened and will never happen. But yeah... keep flashing that badge maybe someone will think it matters. The fact is your talking points are still weak, its OK though... you're a mod.

And sprint passed on the N1 just like every other carried after they saw how bad google's retail model bombed. No company with a right mind would buy into that miscarriage of a product line, even t-mobile regrets it and pulled th plug.

You don't to be the biggest to be the best, you'll learn that in college one day and then you'll see why sprint is having a better 2010 than VZW.

Only flashed the mod badge when you broke the rules. Twist and bend it anyway you like.

I believe Sprint didn't pass... . I think Google passed on the CDMA when VZW pulled out. However, neither one of us can prove it... therefore moot. And every other carrier DIDN'T pass on the N1, ahem... AT&T and T-Mobile both have the device. Sprint was the last to decide... the phone would have brought them customers and Sprint can't afford to be that picky.

I understand Sprint having the Evo is VERY good for them... I even believe it's helping them close the loss gap due to Nextel (Sprint is actually profitable, Nextel is what is dragging them down). But you don't expect me to believe their having a better year (even in proportion to customer base and gross earnings) than VZW?! IF you do, then seriously, we have thread crapped way too much and let's just end this one now. It's obvious we just don't see it the same way... unless you're Dan Hesse or Ivan Seidenberg and have inside information, you aren't going to convince me otherwise.

Umm, wow, Keith, I do the same thing. I play devil's advocate A LOT. I own soo many Apple products, yet I'm against Apple when there's an argument. I get trashed a lot, but I usually have legit points and I'm not bothered after a few back and forth comments.

Anyways, does anyone have any rumors today? Seems kind of silent in terms of phone rumors.

I'm sorry am I in the wrong forum/thread?!??! IS this not a thread about the release date of the EPIC 4G?????????

I'd recommend starting a new thread guys in the EVO/DROID/Incredible forums.... Anyone will do =)

Keith Newman - glad I cracked you up, ****** :p. But I think we've reached a consensus on this matter...

So I'd like to throw out a new idea: carriers only need three high-end Android devices. A large slate (Evo/Droid X), a small slate (??/Incredible), and a QWERTY (Epic/Droid 2). Throw in a midrange or two (if two, then definitely one slate, one QWERTY).

So all that Sprint is missing is the small slate. But this is a huge oversight. My friend loved his Hero, but thinks the Evo is too big and keyboard phones are too fat. (He wears tight jeans. He should go suck off Steve Jobs... wusses)

And this might also explain why Verizon's Galaxy S isn't on their roadmap... they don't need two small slates in the high-end category (although the Galaxy truly trumps the Incredible by almost all measures).

Knowing a lot about the cell industry and being a known figure, I tend to have to be able to play devil's advocate. I bash the crap out of Palm on a weekly basis and the listener's hate it but it needs to be said even though I love that company dearly. I also own an iPhone, iPad and a MacBook but I'll still tell everyone how much I dislike Apple's tactics and attitude.

Yeah... I think this is why we are thread crapping because it's so silent today.

Epic 4G will be launching in the next 60 days

Just talked to my Sprint rep (im a RS employee). They where told earlier this week the exact launch date of the phone, but cant give it out to anyone at this point. He specifically wouldnt tell me because he knew id post it here lol. Anyway all he would say was that it will absolutely be out in the next 60 days. I asked if that ment it would not be out in the next 30 days, he said he couldnt say yes or no, as any more info would give it away. The way he was talking it looks like it will be closer to 30 days than 60, but thats my speculation.

So make your own speculation with that info how you will but there it is!
