Agreed. If it won't be released until September I might go get a Vibrant. I need a new phone and I want a Galaxy S. If Sprint won't deliver or won't at least say WHEN they will deliver, 2 other providers will. Verizon won't be far behind TMo and ATT I'm quite sure.

I will never leave sprint for a phone. That's would be crazy for me to increase my bills just for a phone.

This is kind of ridiculas because sprint is just sitting on a phone that if they would release right now would probably quell the want of the evo for awhile. Samsung said they have one million in stock just for a very high demand. What's holding sprint back?

imho there is still a good chance we can get this by july end (which was the plan due to a massive global launch) or early august. One reason is that samsung might want soft unannounced launches so the demand wont strain the super amoled production much, and two, sprint needs to release it quick cuz they have the perfect device to duke it out with the droid 2 which is rumored due for aug 12

^So very logical.

I did not realise the droid two is supposidly comming out soon and that it too has a physical keyboard. That is what sprint should do just to stagger the competition and to also differentiate itself with the 4g gimmick. Samsung shouldn't really care about super Amoled because as of right now the galaxy s is the only phone that uses it. I think they are prepared for the demand since they want to sell 10 million by the years end.

Samsung sells 300,000 in korea. Wants to sell 10 million

Well instead of selling a new phone why not wait til those evo orders go through so you wont end up with a dead stock that might not move. Then they will be able to sell both evos AND epics instead of just one of the two.

I think many potential buyers might go for the droid x or another appealing phone such as that. Sprint is missing an opportunity. But then again ever smartphone is out of stock right now... except for the galaxy s phones.

The main reason people are sicking with Sprint is the price. The verizon price is about $50+ more a month depending on the level of service. I don't care what phone they have because I am not spending that kind of money just for a phone.

I can understand people staying with sprint just because they're amazing but why would you ever sit on a product when demand is so high?

I am not understanding what you are saying. Why would I sit on a product?

That and sprint is a better experience then other carriers. Other carriers in my area were all a pain to deal with, expensive and didnt have the coverage I needed. Not to mention data costing ALOT more.

I cant remember who said it but due to other phones that have been ordered for customers that are waiting for them to come in is a good reason I think. What happens when people who have been waiting on a phone to arrive see that a droid that is equal or better arrives in the store and no more wait? They cancel their order and grab the new phone and then sprint is left with dead inventory that most likely will not move well or at all. I want nothing more then to get this phone today but I can be patient for a month or 2 if I have to.

Guys c'mon. Sprint's back-ordered EVOs wouldn't sit as dead inventory. There are plenty of people that want EVOs but haven't even been able to place an order and they'll still want it even after the Epic is released. They are two very different phones that will appeal to different customer bases.

I think Sprint executives would MUCH prefer to have a 4G phone ready to sell right now than play some game with inventories. I honestly believe the only hold up was testing and the FCC, not some strange plan to wait for EVO to get back in stock.

Its basic supply and demand schematics...

Sprint needs to meet some kind of demand... you get 600,000 customers paying $10.00 extra a month... that is money to keep your company alive and build out your infrastructure... ie , provide more 4g\Wimax\Clearwire connectivity.

SPrint will not sit on the EPIC just to get more EVO's out there... makes no sense... And yes, believe it or not, there are a TON of folks out there who LOVE the EVO, more so than the EPIC (Some of them are loyalist, fooling themselves, because they know they have already bought into the 2 year contract, and some just desire to have a thin device without a keyboard, ala Iphones). Just does not make a lot of sense...
I am thinking they will announce and have the phones ready by July 28th, in 7 days... but history shows us, that the EVO pasted FCC muster on May 10th, and was released to stores, June 4rth... so we are really looking at August 11th...release date...

spritn is advertising the evo as the greatest phone ever. They can't obsolete it just a few weeks after it is released.

Seriously though, the EVO is a pretty weak phone. A bunch of hardware/software issues make it the worst high end smartphone around. I'd take a nexus one or a droid x any day.

I haven't had any hardware/software issues with my EVO.

Maybe issues was the wrong word. Basically, the Snapdragon in the EVO is underpowered compared to the OMAP in the DROID X and the Hummingbird in the Samsung. The N1 is using the same hardware, but because it is smaller, lighter and unlocked, and doesn't have the 30fps cap, I would prefer it over the Evo.

I see your point now.
