Aug 11th "Official" Release Date?

so, this has nothing to do with a release date, but there is supposed to be a "training" tomorrow night for some lucky Sprint employees (not advocates) at which they will most likely receive the Epic. The same thing happened with the EVO.
I would expect some pics to start showing up shortly.

Got an iMac 27" today, but of course, since it's Apple, it's already got a minor problem, bezel separation in some areas. To add to that, my internet cut out and I'm tethering off of AT&T's junky 5gb "unlimited" data network. Oh where, oh where are you, Samsung Epic? Save the day with your blazing fast speeds and truly unlimited data!
But honestly, I can't say this enough. What is Sprint's marketing strategy? This contest that they have is the best they can come up with? Looks like many people might forget the Epic and go with the Droid 2 on Thursday.

OK, I know this is my first post and you guys don't know me from Adam so take this experience with a grain of salt. After reading some of these forums about the 11th I decided to call a couple of Sprint stores to see if I could pre-order one. Here is how the conversations go:
Sprint Store #1
Me: "Hi, I'd like to pre-order the Epic 4G"
Him: "We're actually not taking pre-orders for this. He have a huge supply of these so there should be no problem with supplies."
Me: "So what time are you opening on Wednesday for the release?"
Him: "We don't have an official release date yet but we open at 10am on Wednesday."
Sprint Store #2
Me: "I'd like to pre-order....."
Woman: "We aren't taking pre-orders for this phone. We have a ton of these so you should be able to get one on Wednesday."
Me: "Wednesday? What time do you open?"
Woman: "We open at 10am but we may not have them all in the system until about 10:30 so you should come after that."
Me: "I'll see you Wednesday."
I am paraphrasing a bit but this is pretty much how the conversations went down. The first guy made it sound like they already had them in the store. The woman at the second store made it sound like they were getting their shipment in tomorrow... Weird. I wonder if they are ust going to release them without warning and let the demand for them become viral...?

Welcome to the boards. I don't know if this is your first android/mobile phone forum or how long you've been with Sprint, but it is widely accepted that Sprint employees are the least reliable source of information. I wish this phone was coming out this week, but it is highly unlikely.
I doubt they would tell you over the phone if they have them in stock prior to release for the same way pharmacists don't give stock checks on narcotics over the phone. If I were to say I had 1000 pills of Drug X (
), the people where I live wouldn't bring in a prescription, instead, cut out the doctor fee and bring their gun. Lord knows everyone in this town is part of the NRA. I'm not saying they would get robbed, but it leaves the possibility since there is almost total anonymity

Check the "current" rebate form...if it's not listed..its not coming out until after that form ends...also they said "End of Summer" which isn't until like end of Sept. With all current information and all accounted for...The phone will be out and I qoute either...9.4.10 or 9.18.10 ( to cliche to release on 9.11.10 that's toooo epic)
Thats nothing but blog spam on blog spam about BGR's playbook picture. Does anyone honestly believe they're releasing this phone tomorrow with less than a 24 hour heads up?
I love how they take a 5-day old article from MobileCrunch which makes a guess at the 11th as the release date, then restate it as if it were set-in-stone fact.
Well I just called my local Sprint store and they said they're not selling them tomorrow and they don't have any in stock. Not sure what to make of peoples' posts here...
Well Im sorry to hear about you buying a mac, my condolences and prayers go out to you. As for ATT that is the main reason why I would never even look at them seriously as I go well above 5GB a month on my phone.
As for sprints marketing I dont think they have a true marketing team. Rather a bunch of forrest gumps running around collecting paychecks.
Sure it can be done, but the chances of sprint redeeming itself are slim to none and slim left town a long time ago. But Id LOVE to be proven wrong.

And when it doesn't launch in 24 hours, it will show just how much of an Epic fail Sprint's marketing has made. I'm very disappointed, and hope that the real reason its "delayed" is that they are fixing the GPS issue for all US bound Galaxy S phones together (this is why I think VZW is far from releasing the Fascinate). Its very unlikely that the Epic will have the slow down issue that that other devices have due to its 1GB ROM and not using it as an SD card.

FALSE. Sprint launched new MIR forms shortly before the EVO came out. Before EVO release the MIR form had an expiration of 6/6/10 and did not list the EVO.
THIS.
Sprint stopped that MIR leak situation with the Pre. Since then, high end devices haven't been included in the fine print to avoid this type of problem.
