Aug 11th "Official" Release Date?

So just to throw more fuel on the fire. Earlier SamsungmobileUS tweeted that androidforums.com was having a "great discussion on the epic4G". I went to that forum right after they tweeted that, and the first thread was one speculating that the release date was August 11th. Now I am being hopeful (because, seriously, we have nothing real to go on, why not be just a little bit hopeful?) but that almost seems like a hint from samsung. I mean, they've been saying for weeks now that the epic is just around the corner, and they've recently shut their mouth about it, suggesting either sprint told them to hush, or it's been delayed.

If they were just told to shush, then this could be their subtle way of pointing us in the right direction

Hopefully this is right. But At this point the only chance we have is a surprise release and honestly I think I have a greater chance at winning the lottery then having this phone release on that date or even in august...

I was surprised how thin the phone is... it is actually thinner than my EVO when it has the Seidio case on it.

How is it confirmed by Sprint? Where is the announcement? Tired of these kind of threads. Epic confirmed for Aug 8, Aug 20 now the 21st and they were all by Sprint with no link.

I think most of us here have been waiting since early July for an official announcement, and will devour any rumors by now, but these unofficial date threads are just overflowing.

Can't we merge all these date threads to a single rumor thread? I would, if I had the privileges.

Do you know how confusing it would be if all of these threads were compiled into one? It would make them practically unreadable. It's not like they're covering up other, more useful discussions, and it's not like the forum is about to run out of thread space. Why even bother? It doesn't bother my eyes to see a few of these on the front page. Plus this one looks pretty official.

Welcome to the boards. I don't know if this is your first android/mobile phone forum or how long you've been with Sprint, but it is widely accepted that Sprint employees are the least reliable source of information. I wish this phone was coming out this week, but it is highly unlikely.

Yes, I totally agree that they are unreliable to say the least. It was just that she said Wednesday without any prompt from me. That was the weird part... She said it like it was common knowledge and nothing secret. Maybe she was just going off the rumors, too, though... I'll have to call her back later today.

No need to keep posting this, it gets moved to the top of the board everytime someone posts in that thread... I am pleased to see that it doesn't look ginormongus like it did in the PhoneDog review. Helps to have someone without hands the size of the BurgerKing guy for a real comparison.

While I agree to some extent that it would be confusing to many, all these threads are sharing the same discussion: rumor date on when the Epic will be available.

While there's not that much information to talk about, coming in here and seeing multiple date threads being constantly replied to is more confusing. You never know where the new information will pop-up from.

For the record, I do hope this user is right. It's about time we get a definite date for once and for all.

No need to merge. Things get wonky. There are 3 outstanding threads right now, tomorrow there will be two. As mentioned before, this isn't a hotbed of activity.
