Talked to a Sprint rep today at a store (My Hero is having trouble charging). He said the 20th, but who can you trust nowadays?

I'm standing in line waiting for my Best Buy to open at 10. I have a good spot second, although I not sure the gentleman sleeping on the sidewalk with the beer bottle is in line for the Epic. Only 15 more minutes! :)

check your sarcasm meter

My sarcasm meter has been on the fritz since sometime late July. I took it in for a service and the "check engine" light doesn't flicker on anymore, but it still displays NaN or negative zero on most of the posts I point it at.

I hear that the Epic has a built-in sarcasm meter, so I can wait until then. Can't be long now, can it? ;)

I work personally for Dan Hesse and want to set this forum straight. Mr. Hesse indicates to me that the Epic 4G will be released when he says it will be released and that no store employees, managers, or even other senior executives of Sprint have been advised of his plans with respect to the phone release.

The reason for the delay is that a three D holographic image widget will be added on to the phone. For those who have seen the CSI detectives flipping through large volumes of data on a holographic touch interface this is what I am referring to. This will enable the user to browse the Internet, send emails and texts, and place phone calls. More to come shortly. Thank you for your patience.

I am back with some more news from my boss, Mr. Hesse, for the delay. As noted above, the new widget we are including with the Epic will generate live holographic images in the air above the phone for the reader to visually touch and manipulate, in 3D, to surf, email, text, etc.

Our suppliers in Asia, however, have our orders for the lasers that will generate the 3D images on backorder. Apparently, the overwhelming demand for the lasers for use on all of the spinoffs of CSI shows and other competing shows using holographic imaging in crime labs is creating a major shortage of the lasers. We are informed by our suppliers that as soon as this demand is met we are next in line.

As a token of our appreciation for your patience, we will throw in as an added bonus with our widget the added ability to do your own CSI crime lab work at home on the Epic. In this difficult economy we know this add source of income will be useful to you.

Thanks hbg.

Anyways, nobody at the Sprint stores are reliable... CS doesn't know what they're talking about... there haven't been any announcements yet... there haven't been any LEAKS yet...

They just don't actually have a release date, do they?

Maybe they're intentionally telling different dates to different people to find out who's leaking information.

OMG CONSPIRACY! :p

Nah, I'm leaning towards the theory that every time they try to set a release date some show-stopping issue pushes it back, and in the chaos of a dozen teams trying to coordinate together unsuccessfully nobody has a clear view of what's going on.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the release of a phone is generally a month AFTER an advocate is chosen?

In previous speculation threads, people were saying two weeks. Week and a half might be enough considering there's not too much new stuff to learn since it's just another Android phone...

Not necessarily, when the EVO launched, I got our advocate demo one week prior to launch. However, Sprint started the Advocate program with the low Samsung Rant and we received that demo over a month after release. Typically, advocates today get a brief window of time with a device before it's released.

No offense... but that post has 0 credibility without some type of picture. I've been doing this for a LONG time and I didn't hear about getting an EVO demo until the middle of May and received it late May.

i was basing my post off this:
not to burst your bubble, but the advocate devices haven't even arrived in stores yet, and the advocate phones usually arrive a couple of weeks before the release date. so, the 11th seems like a stretch. Also, Sprint has never been one to officially announce a phone's launch date so close to that actual date.
Which, to be fair, also has 0 credibility

Not exactly sure why they would lie, but no offense to you either, but your post isn't very credible either. Sure you posted a picture of the Epic (which who knows if that was really your picture), but you also said Sprint would announce the 21st as a release date the same day you posted that picture...well, guess what hasn't happened?
