Auto brightness doesn't adjust to lowest levels

When I get on my S6 at night when it's dark, it always seems so bright. I discovered that when I disable auto brightness I can turn the brightness down to a more comfortable level. Outside of this one use case, auto brightness works fine for me. Is this normal? Is there a way to make auto brightness go more dim when it's really dark? Thanks!

Welcome to Android Central! I've seen that in other phones as well, so it's not just the S6.

Hi! Welcome to Android Central! On my S6 I usually leave the slider at the lowest level and then at night I just uncheck auto brightness.

This is what I do and normally suggest to people that likes their screen at lowest stock brightness.
