Auto replace/predictive text is a joke

Anyone have issues with their predictive text/auto replace inserting words that aren't even words? Even if I type the exact word spelled correctly, my phone will put some nonsense letters in its place. Makes absolutely no sense what so ever.

When you type a particular word, and you want it to retain that word exactly, are you pressing the "checkmark" key?

If you don't the predictive text can do some weird things at times.

I personally have no issues with the way it works, the description of how it works states, "choose a word that is shown, or use the Check Mark to retain the way you typed it.

(if you hit the space bar instead of the Check Mark, it does not always retain the word like you want it.)

Using that practice, I almost never have any problems. At times, the exact word I want has like 3 different suffixes appended, I just choose one of them, back to erase the offending letters and then the predictive text will present the next set of predictive text words, and 99.9% of the time, I get the one I want.

It seems that the base word + "ed" is not deemed to be a first level choice, it is a 2nd level choice. Thus me backing out and erasing "ly" or "ing" and then adding "ed".

no matter how it goes, it is so much faster than me typing out the whole word character by character.

I have given up on swipe, my fingers just can't seem to learn how to use it.

Example >>wouldon't << I just tried to type wouldn't, and >>thathe<< this is what it inserts. 95% I use the "check", and the other I may choose a word. I've had this >>phoNE << for about 4-5 months now, >>aND<< it doesn't get any better.

I presume that you are aware that the "Check Mark" is also used to train the predictive text to your way of thinking?

I am using the stock Samsung keyboard and can write whole sentences w/o typing more than 2 characters per word. It is seldom that I have to type 4 or more characters.

In the beginning, I had experiences like you, but I would spell out the complete word just like I want it and then use the "check mark". That forced that word into the predictive text algorithm.

That's exactly what I'm doing. It just doesn't get better. I'm always correcting the auto correct. I think it's kinda silly that it inserts something that isn't even a word.
