Perplexed Noob here: rooted or not?

I ran Auto Root script and it worked like a charm. Very smooth. The instructions were great.

However . . . after the process was "complete." I downloaded Titanium Backup and installed it. But Titanium tells me that the phone is "not rooted."

So I do the whole thing again. Same result.

It's late and I need my phone tomorrow, so load a up a few apps that I need, Juice Defender being one of them. Curiously, on the JD Defender log, it is noted that the phone "is rooted."

Whasup???

at the bottom of titanium back up there is a button "problems" hit it , then get busybox updates. then relaunch TiB

i can instruct at the end of the script to reconnect after returned to stock and press any key to continue , and the last command would be to remove that file

Sweet, I'm digging the auto. I have them both saved on my computer for use, therefore I never have to wait while they download again lol.

yeah if you have the folder already keep it, i will be only adding new batch file updates, then you just place it in the folder and launch it .

the download will probably be a couple seconds

I am in the process of downloading this auto root deal. I have never rooted before. Does anyone have any advice for me on what to do after doing this root process?

YES AS WITH ANY HACK OR ROOTING.....If you don't know what its doing then you probably don't know what your doing ....So Read! Read!! Read!! and pay attention to what the auto Root tells you to do, be careful.... if all goes well you should be fine in a few minutes, after root be happy and and start experimenting with Different Roms and Kernels and free up your device from the bloatware...have fun these guys take no responsibility if you do something to your device

Hi DroidXcon....i am new to this and wanted to root my thundy. can i use any usb port on my dell laptop windows 7 64 bit? does it mean that i have htc sync when my pc recognizes the phone? sorry for all this noob ?

Also..i downloaded the auto root and extracted it on my deskytop and now I have the folder that says Tb_Auto_root. I downloaded also the auto root alpha version 2 and move it to the Tb_Auto_root folder. When I click the Tb_Auto_root folder on my desktop I see a folder that says Tb_Auto_root and below that is Start_Root_V2.bat. Is this correct?

GEEZ...lol! which script shoud i do the Auto root or the auto root alpha version 2?

Did anybodies "leaked" skype video app refuse to install after rooting? I had it installed before root and it worked perfectly. Now since I used the auto root it will not install. When I go to my download folder and open the app manager with the leaked .apk it gives me the option to uninstall, upgrade, or launch.
I know that its getting confused because of the built in skype and because its a system app it wont let me upgrade it for some reason. When I choose upgrade it says "This is a system application. Do you still want to replace it? All previous user data will be saved". Then I hit install wait 10 seconds and get "application not installed". How would the root do this?

Any body bricked their TBolt with this method yet?

I had a guy come in my vzw retail store trying to return one that he bricked using this method. He couldn't really tell me what he did wrong but the phone wont go passed the boot screen, and he told me he used the method from android central.

I let him know that he probably shouldn't have told me that, and politely denied his request to get his device swapped under the warranty.

Still hoping for help with Adb issue..

Hi again,
For those of us that receive this at step 1 and can go no further:

"'adb' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file"

I am not a rookie at Rooting as I rooted both my Eris and Fascinate. I even switched laptops last night so as to ensure that my USB ports on my Dell were functional. I am starting to worry that I have a malfunctioning Thunderbolt, vs a bad USB connection? I am hoping though, that someone who experienced the same problem, will chime in with a rememdy.

Start_Root_V2.bat goes inside the folder that says Tb_Auto_root then as per my instructions double click on Start_Root_V2.bat

The only case of bricking their phone was the person that nick1020, not him but someone who came to his store,,but the person did post there that they bricked it, and it has not been determined which method was used to brick the phone.

Thanks for this im now rooted but it says S-ON still, what went wrong?
did you use the old script or new script, the only way this can happen is if for some reason the wrong RUU was used , the PM05img.. try to unroot and start again

kind of jacked up that you denied him. and did he specifiy that it was the auto root?
there are many methods on Android Central
http://forum.androidcentral.com/thu...ocedure-how-root-thunderbolt-adb-windows.html
http://forum.androidcentral.com/thu...9-mac-procedure-how-root-htc-thunderbolt.html
http://forum.androidcentral.com/thunderbolt-rooting-roms-hacks/76518-simi-auto-root-windows-mac.html

so to simply say the method on android central and then come to my thread and say that this is the culprit or the reason is not very constructive

this method is the same method as android police / as XDA and every other location. Im surprised he didnt report it here in this thread that it was bricked most people would come here for help im surprised he didnt ,, you say he couldnt get past the boot screen? Hboot? fastboot? bootloader?
And as someone who comes to a site like ours or any other site what suggestion did you give him to fix it? i thought someone who came to a site like AC and worked at verizon would be a little more compassionate to this situation

Angel did you unzip the tb auto root zip? did you place the Start_Alpha_V2 inside the tb_auto_root folder with all the other files?
is HTC sync installed, are you in debugging mode with stay awake checked off and in Charge only mode

adb reply..

Thanks for the reply,
I unzipped the Auto Root Zip, but did not insert the "Start_Alpha_V2" in the root folder. All else was covered as well (debug, stay awake etc). I am currently at work and will give it a try this evening. I will post again once I give it a try. I know that you resolved this issue for one of the guys last night. Here's hoping this will work for me as well.

One last thing....I can get to the point where I open the black screen with the instructions. I get past the first two questions and then when asked if I can see the serial number of my phone....everything then falls apart. :(

yeah the problem is that the file needs to be inside the folder with the other files, it can not execute an adb command with out the adb files in the same folder as the batch, because it looks within the folder that it is placed in for that function

Has anyone else had a problem downloading the auto root? I tried several times last night with each download link, the download would read: "starting" then never get any further. On a wim I tried using my PS3 to download to a flash drive & it ended up working, it took 2+ hours but I finally got it. I hope the auto unroot has quicker download time
