Re: [Auto] Root and Unroot (Windows)**Updated**5/20** w/MR1 updat

Need your assistance... it says during the auto-root tutorial

"go into bootloader while phone is plugged in
you will have to hit power on bootloader while selected
It will ask you to upgrade after finshed cscanning the rom
press volume up to upgrade"

I push power on selected (bootloader), it scans the rom (briefly), but just returnes to fastloader. No update. What is happening and how can I make it work?

BTW, I have done everything that was asked, such as turn on degugging mode, stay awake and charge only. I have tried other roots as well with same conclusion.

Has this ever happened to anyone? If so, how to proceed?

Thanks

Make sure the PG05IMG.zip is on the root of your sd card (not inside a folder, just in the main directory of the sd card), and navigate to the file with a file manager on your phone - make sure it reads PG05IMG.zip and not PG05IMG.zip.zip - sometimes pc computers have hidden file extensions.

If those things are they way they should be, try downloading the files again, check checksums, and retry.

Re: [Auto] Root and Unroot (Windows)**Updated**5/20** w/MR1 updat

I'm hoping I can find some answers here. I've followed all the steps and even used the tutorial on YouTube. Everything seemed to work fine and my actions matched what I saw on the tutorial. After everything I still don't have root. I Used root checker and tried to run barnacle, but both said I was not rooted. I am able to boot into recovery, but it just goes right to the update. Should I just start over from the beginning? What could I be missing?? Thanks for any help!!

Update: I wiped my sd card and did a factory data reset on the phone and redid the root from the beginning again; worked like a charm this time.

Anybody know if they are going to update this with the MR2 update that just rolled out? I would prefer to use this method because I did for MR1 and it worked flawlessly...

Re: [Auto] Root and Unroot (Windows)**Updated**5/20** w/MR1 updat

Question, I have an RUU that is an executable file for my thunderbolt (RUU_Mecha_VERIZON_WWE_1.03.605.10_Radio_1.02.00.0103_2r_NV_8k_1.37_9k_1.52_release_165253_signed.exe) I used files like this in the past to flash my incredible back to stock. Would this work on the same on my thunderbolt with s-off?

Re: [Auto] Root and Unroot (Windows)**Updated**5/20** w/MR1 updat

Does anybody have a link to a site to do this with the MR2 update?

I finally sat down to do this thinking Android Central would have its act together, but apparently they don't. I've got the day free, need a hotspot back in operation, but my desire to do this is slipping away quickly.

Re: [Auto] Root and Unroot (Windows)**Updated**5/20** w/MR1 updat

I need to unroot but am unsure about the process. I went to the link and downloaded the 2 files neccessary. Do I rename the file and attach to my SD card? My phone is stuck on 1x and the battery wont charge. I NEED HELP!!!

I had the same problem for days, stuck at hboot, using different rooting methods.

Finally, I decided to see what would happen if I just kept the usb plugged in throughout the whole process - AND IT WORKED!! Same warning signs, but then it read PG05IMG.zip, and the progress bar on the right came up.

Followed every other step to the dot. Battery had 56% when I started. Using Windows XP. Switched cables from the stock HTC removable charger (it kept losing connection to my computer). Finally rooted after 4 days of no progress.

Currently backing things up. Gonna try using the other OTA update. Total time for root process for these instructions was about 1 hour. Hope this helps!

I believe it works with the mr2 update, however at the end of the root process you are left with the mr1 radio, rom, and kernel, at this point in time.

Confirmed... I believe we were waiting on the official release from Verizon before anything could be done. I'll ask DroidXcon if it can be updated or not... its his program.

Rooted but Stock system. . getting service down for update , is this because of root ? or is it just down at this time ?

Re: [Auto] Root and Unroot (Windows)**Updated**5/20** w/MR1 updat

So basically if you want to root a phone that has the new update this past week from Verizon you will need to do this process and you can either run with the old radio or flash the new radio, and a ROM that supports the new radio (the ROM should flash the new kernal).

Yes, basically. after you root you have MR1 radio-stock rom-stock kernel. You can then flash a rom that runs with the mr1 radio, or you can update your radio to the mr2, and flash a compatible mr2 rom. The kernels will be included with the rom file or RUU file (which contains Radio, Rom, and Kernel). If you choose to flash a RUU after you root, make sure you get the variety that has root enabled, or else you will go back to stock.

Re: [Auto] Root and Unroot (Windows)**Updated**5/20** w/MR1 updat

I need some help guys, I am trying to run this auto root program and I install the HTC Sync drivers and have the device set to USB Debugging + Charge only + stay awake mode but when I try and run the auto root program I never see my devices serial number and it tells me to check all the above before continuing and I do and they are set up fine so I hit any key to continue and the command prompt window closes and thats it... I did install the MR2 update on July 8th, could this be screwing up the auto root process?

Thanks!
