No you don't want to restore from a nandroid, that's more like a backup of your entire system you can return to if you don't like or have problems with a new ROM.

For restoring apps/data to a new ROM I recommend Titanium Backup, and in fact wrote a guide to walk you through the best way to use it :)

Yes u can restore your apps and screen setup. Click restore then advance and select data only.

Also another trick if u don't like restoring everything just wipe system, delvick, and cache. Your apps stay put. Then flash your rom.

It is, you can just flash the stock recovery, only takes a minute. If you've changed anything you can do a full factory image restore as well, which again would allow you to receive OTAs. Either is very easy to do, the toolkit can do them and we have guides if you need to do it manually :)

Thanks for explaining, I don't feel the desire to continue to mess around with the ROM atm. I have TBUp Pro so I'll be fine when it comes to backing up the important stuff.

That said, I could not transfer my save game files from my Droid Charge to my Nexus 7. Need for Speed, Sonic CD, Chu Chu Rocket, Cut the Rope, Angry Birds and more. I have my entire Droid Charge TBUp Pro apps saved on DropBox and downloaded them to my Nexus 7, but no go.

So I'll have a look at your thread tomorrow and see if I can figure out what went wrong.

Yeah definitely check my Tibu thread, and I'd say you're best bet would be to physically copy the TiBu folder from the old phone's sd to your computer, then to your nex7, making sure to put it right on the root of the sd card, not it any other folders so it matches how it looked on the old sd. I don't fully trust the drop box backup Tibu makes yet (mostly because I can't get it to work, lol)

Some apps or games also might not be compatible with the nex 7. Let me know what errors or issues you're having specifically if you still can't get it going. We can move this convo to my tibu thread as well so we don't take up wug's here :)

Even for the Nexus 7 we need to select "SAMSUNG Android ADB Interface" drivers? I just wanted to double check since the tablet is made by ASUS.

Thx!

So got a question, I used wugs 1.3 to originally unlock and root my phone. I am buying a GNx for the wife Sunday do I have to upgrade to 1.5?

Can anyone help? Having trouble with the drivers installation. It keeps telling me that "ADB device was not found". I followed the steps and uninstalled all previous USB devices and ADB interface. I also tried all the steps on troubleshooting such as turning off features such as "fast charge" etc..I dont know what else to do. Please Help....

Re: [Automated] Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit v1.5.2 (Updated 7/14/12)

I tried with my Nexus S, running 4.1.1 and build JR003E. I selected JR003C from the options in the tool (since 3E was not able).

1. The unlocking was smooth.
2. During the root process, and while doing the recovery reboot - the phone got stuck with the Google boot screen. I read the FAQ, and did a battery pull, at which point the reboot went through smoothly - with messages indicating the su binary was installed.

3. But then I saw SuperSU was not installed - so I downloaded it from Google play

4. When I start SuperSU, I get the error "su binary not installed"

What could be wrong????

Windows may be installing what it thinks is a better driver. You have to make it stop doing that. Try this, I hope it helps.

*Click Start?>Search, then type in gpedit.msc
*Click the file to open the Local Group Policy Editor
*Go to Computer Configuration->Administrative Templates->System->Device Installation. Click on the subfolder Device Installation on the left, and on the right side you will see the possible restrictions.
*Right Click on Prevent Installation of Devices not described by other policy settings and edit this option, set it on ENABLED.
*Also enable Allow Administrators to override Device Installation Restriction policies at the top of the list.
Now, Windows won't automatically install drivers, but you can manually install them yourself.

Kanged that tip from here...

Edit: obviously, you have to uninstall the current drivers and reinstall the correct ones after that

I love your guide and root app. I will be giving you a donation! =)

Re: [Automated] Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit v1.5.2 (Updated 7/14/12)

For the life of me I cannot get these drivers installed. It refuses to recognize the device as an ADB device. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers multiple times, each times it gets recognized as an MTP device listed as just "Galaxy Nexus".

Mine said the same thing and it still worked. I didn't even know how to tell if it was recognized as MTP. Did you go through the drivers setup with the 8 steps? Step 1 and 2 is really important. Make sure it is done correctly. I found that really helpful. The key part when you know it's working as ADB if you are able to see your serial numbers under step 4 and 7.

Sometimes it can still be wonky and not detect the phone so what I did was repeat steps 4-7 too see if it recognizes it under the serial numbers. Once it does, go ahead and unlock and root. Also if USB DEBUG is not turned on then it will not work correctly.

Have device manager always up to see how your phone is recognized. One time, even after completing all the steps and in bootloader mode, the phone appeared as UNKNOWN DEVICE, so I had to manually load drivers from dmmarck's guide here http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4174784/usb_driver.zip.

I ended up using the naked universal driver and it worked. Still shows as Galaxy Nexus, but shows Samsung Android ADB interface as well.

Re: [Automated] Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit v1.5.2 (Updated 7/14/12)

I have Verizon Galaxy Nexus stock. I rooted my Fascinate two years ago but I have been waiting for 4.1 Jelly Bean for my Nexus. The unlock/rooting guide is great. Question: Once I unlock & root, where do I find a good, bug free 4.1 Jelly Bean ROM? Thanks again for all the work
