[Automated] Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit v1.6.2 (Updated 12/29/12)

Re: [Automated] Wug's Galaxy Nexus Root Toolkit v1.1

So I loaded the CDMA version 1.1 and loaded everything on my windox XP pc... After I loaded the drivers and was prompted to plug in device, the device will not show after plugged in USB and debugging checked. What gives?

For those having problems getting to recovery and have a yellow triangle with an exclamation point....
You're drivers are only half configured. When you see the yellow exclamation mark, right click it, install drivers... browse locally, and then use the browse button to point to:

C:\android-sdk-windows\extras\drivers\32bit or 64bit depending on your computer

For other errors that occurred from past installs... Use the flash stock and unroot option. Then do it all over.

Re: [Automated] Wug's Galaxy Nexus Root Toolkit v1.1

For everyone Having driver problems I had the same thing.
I fixed it however by installing PDA NET on my computer. It automatically fixes the driver issue. Just download the program to you're computer then follow the instructions to install. Then instead of opening on you're phone just use Wug Fresh's program. Any time your computer asks you to install drivers do it automatically.
Also, if you don't see you're device listed after initial install of drivers and SDK files restart your computer. That also fixed that problem
Been searching this for a day now and it worked!!!
Good luck to all Hope this helps

The "unlocking" being discussed here is unlocking the bootloader. Your Verizon Galaxy Nexus not work on TMobile because TMobile is GSM. This version of the phone is CDMA/LTE. If you want it to work on TMobile, you have to purchase the GSM version. Unfortunately, it will cost you close to $600 out of contract.

question number 1

Re: [Automated] Wug's Galaxy Nexus Root Toolkit v1.1

I tried this with some weird results.
First I tried to point it to the existing sdk install which is under c:\program files\....
Later on it is still looking for files under the install in the root c:\ which kind of messes it up.
So I ended up uninstallign the sdk, and re installing it with this tool.
When I try to start the back up process it can't open the backup file under /android-sdk-windows/nexusbackup/sun.....ab
Then it reports the backup file is located at c:\program files x86\android... etc and it clearly isn't there...
Not feeling comfortable to continue with the rest.

Re: [Automated] Wug's Galaxy Nexus Root Toolkit v1.1

Wifi shouldn't be affected by the unlock root process... I would try setting up your wifi connections again with your router.

Factory reset/hard reset will not make you lose root or affect the unlocked bootloader.

If you're stock rooted.. you will most likely still receive OTA updates but you don't want to accept those... it will break the root. Devs will release rooted versions of updates that you can use instead.

I tried this but windows complaints and says it can not find the driver ?
64 bit win7 home premium

edit: I got some help. Apparantly the installer doesn't install all drivers when you select option 1. You need to run it again with option 2. Then the drivers are available under the indicated directory.

edit2: unlocked and rooted now. With the correct driver installed it went very quickly. The unlocking took a bit, the rooting went almost instantly.

Thanks again for the great work !

Re: [Automated] Wug's Galaxy Nexus Root Toolkit

Ive attempted to follow the steps outlined above, however, when I download root explorer, there is no grey box in the upper right corner - only a menu icon. However, it states that the phone is already in r/o mode - nevertheless, when I try to rename the recovery file, it states that I dont have permission to do so. Any help would be appreciated.

ps - all drivers are installed correctly. phone is unlocked, just cant get it to root.

You need root access before you can use apps like ROM Manager or Root Explorer...
Here's a screenshot of Root Explorer... up top it will show a box with R/W and next to it will read ... read only. Before you can make changes... you need to press that box so it shows R/O and next to it should read... read and write.

Until you can get the drivers worked out and the phone rooted... you can't use these apps.
