Available Now: Droid X 2.3.340 Update Discussion (Not Gingerbread!)

I'm hoping this update won't disbale the current methods to root, overclock and undervolt. Definitely holding off on update if it does until new methods are found.

Im sure its the first thing they worked on.

the one-click methods will probably need to be tweaked slightly to allow them to work on the new update. even if the one-click stuff wont work right away, youll probably be able to root through ADB before long

going to sticky and re-title this thread. please use this thread for discussion of the 2.3.340 update.

Unless root will not be lost, I refuse to upgrade. My phone is running fine right now with the few tweaks I gave it.

I'm new to this forum. When I first saw the Droid X, my first imperessions were that it looked and felt great. The one thing that has kept me away thus far was the playback of the video capture. I thought it was quite jerky.

Is this something that is being fixed with this upgrade or is the choppiness related to the capture and will never be corrected.

It'll probably break root, but not for terribly long. =)

I'm using Fission so my phone isn't broken.

I SBF'd earlier with a fresh version of 2.2 and got bootloops afterwards, I was crapping myself but after a factory reset all was well, ready and set for this update :-D I can live without root for a little while.

Is anybody upset by the lack of bugfixes on the update info sheet? What happened to the battery force close error and wifi problems? I am so sick of my phone not being connected to the school network unless i keep pressing the on/off over and over.

I feel the same way. I'm at the point where I don't even connect to Wifi anymore. At least they fixed the ungodly, unstable music player.

I hope that list is short only to not appear so embarrassingly long, like 3 pages or more of what it should be.

Usually once Verizon puts the PDF of the updates for a device on their site, the turnaround for the actual update deployment is usually about 24-48 hours.

I have to figure out how to unroot!

I may even take a chance and hit the "unroot" button in the Easy Root application from Unstable Apps.

We dont need to unroot to get this update do we?

Hmm...good question. I think it depends on what you have done to your device, post-root. Like, if you have been ROMing it and doing all that kind of stuff. I only rooted for two apps, Wireless Tether and DroCap. Maybe I won't have to unroot...

All i did was use Titanium to freeze the bloatware. Once i saw there was an update coming I defrosted the Bloat. Hopefully that will be enough. Even if I lose root with this update Im sure we will get a root method within 48 hours.

i was disappointed this morning when I checked for an update and I was told that no update was needed at this time... :(

Hopefully it'll pop up online for you guys soon so you can go the manual option instead of having to wait for an OTA.
