Available Now: Droid X 2.3.340 Update Discussion (Not Gingerbread!)

I unchecked sync over wifi only and it still can't find the update. It just sits at the checking for update screen. Not rooted either.

Can someone please tell me what I can do to get my phone to reroot. No matter what I do it won't work and I have been trying since last night. I have enabled and disabled debugging as well as did several battery pulls.

Please help!

What software did you use to root your phone before the update?

I am asking this because I am not able to attain root since the update, my phone was rooted using the DO ROOT through sdk and I am not able to get the Z4 root to work on my X. I am noticing that the people who are able to use the Z4 after the update were either unrooted pre update or were rooted with the Z4 method.

Can't see the update. I unchecked sync over wifi and it still can't find it. Never rooted.

I hadn't removed any of it, I was rooted and froze some bloatware, but didn't remove any. I've removed root (the Superuse Icon is still there though).. I've restored my phone, tried everything - it still won't go.

I had the problem where it said my phone was up to date yesterday as I tried to download. This morning I connected to Wi-Fi at work (after a reboot - stupid Wi-Fi bug) and was able to get the update immediately. Took about 10 minutes total time to download and install.

Running non-rooted phone.

We'll see if it fixes the Wi-Fi bug. that was my biggest issue with 2.2.

I pulled mine from setting and installed it but I think it bricked my phone it was stuck on the moto screen for ten min. Im sure it doesn't take that long so I did a batt pull and now everything is good.

Anyone get this update to work from a 2.3.320 rooted X? Will I need one of the SBF's or will I be able to do the OTA?

I didn't use z4 before the update either....are we gonna be stuck now without root or do you think another method will come out soon that will work for this of us who didn't use z4 the first time around?

If your install keeps getting an error you need to flash sbf then the update works fine. I was unable to do manual or ota until I flashed stock sbf and retried ota. All is good now.

With all of these issues people are having... that's the reason I didn't root/modify my DX before updating. Now, however, that's a different story! Heck, I'm trying to pick which ROM I want.

Any issues arising from the actual update itself, as far as functionality?

I hope another method is found. While researching this I looked on multiple forums and found a good number of people stuck in the same boat as us and I am sure that number is growing today with the official ota rolling out right now.

I manually rooted through the sdk before the update. I did not unroot, and applied the update. I lost root, but used z4 to root again. The only thing I've noticed is the Superuser app has a different icon than the ninja icon it had before.

Do you have clockwork mod recovery on your phone? I do and I'm nit sure if that could be effecting the root as well.

Oh, I meant to ask... has anyone noticed that since the update, the rear speaker is louder? One 2.1 I could barely hear it, 2.2 was acceptable, but now with 2.2.1 I can hear my phone ring or receive a message from downstairs.

Have you tried backing up everything you need to and reflashing with the SBF? Numerous people here had the installation issues and once they've flashed back, it worked.

No clock work on my phone . Mine was just rooted and had apps renamed using root explorer. Did you have adfree android before the update because I just realized that while I can't give apps su permission or use apps that had it before I still don't have adds in any of my add supported apps.

Is the update the same as the zip from yesterday? if not what's the best method to go back so the new official can be installed?

forgot to mention - any way to do this without going to megaupload, rapidshare, etc? My work blocks all those sites and I have no home computer at the moment.
