Average Battery Life

I have the GS7 and have no issues getting through an entire day from 7am to 10pm with plenty left.

Been on battery for over 12 hours today, and just clocked 6 hours of SOT with 28% battery remaining. Today's use includes nearly 2 hours of gaming. Other use includes listening to music without headphones (at least 3 hours), watching some video (about a half hour), internet browsing, and taking a few photos and videos. Rather impressive - if not for the 2 hours of gaming, I'd probably still be at 40-50% battery life.

According to GSam , battery life is 22h 18m & screen on time is 9h 48m since March 20th for my S7.
Very respectable.

I would love to know how some of you are getting the battery life that you say you're getting with lots of SOT. I've never broken 4 hours of SOT. Are you all using GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi on all the time? Please share some of your tricks. The way I have my device set up is Bluetooth is always on because of my Gear S2, I have WiFi set to turn off when sleeping, my screen is always set to 40% brightness and I don't think I use power-sucking apps.

I forgot to mention above that I have Always On Display (AOD) enabled too, which would have sucked out a few extra % of battery life. My brightness level is set on Auto.

Regarding the varying SOT that people are noticing, I guess it's highly dependent on what you're using the phone for and your real-time settings etc. GPS and Bluetooth on all the time may suck the battery faster than most other activities. I know one time when I used "GPS only" to navigate in a car over a period of just over an hour (with brightness level often at 100% because it was a sunny day), it sucked out 20-30% of battery life! But then I suspect that would happen to any other smartphone. Navigating with "GPS, Wi-Fi and mobile networks" would probably suck out much less battery.

According to the above web-site, video playback time is nearly 15 hours, so in theory, you could get a SOT of nearly 15 hours if all you're doing is watching video. But looks like if you're web browsing for hours, you can expect a much less SOT. However, it'd be interesting to know what exactly "web browsing" involved in that test, and I'm sure different "types" of web browsing would produce different results, whether more or less favourable.

First disabled some bloatware using the package disabled pro.

1. 2 Gmail accounts on sync. But just mainly calendar, inbox, Gmail, Google keep, contacts, and everything is turned off
2. Brightness is alwatys 40% all the time but 100% when outside.
3. I only turn on GPS and Bluetooth when necessarry.
4. Weather sync is off. I refresh it manually.
5. I use the Android dark theme so it helps with the battery life
6. AOD is off ( Never really use it)
7. Capacitive button light is off
8. Wifi off when sleeping.

I have at&t, snapdragon. You have to remember many factors affects battery life. But in my normal use im happy with the results.

Just another update on battery life with the S7, showcasing its rather amazing standby capabilities. Phone has been on battery for over 36 hours, and battery is at 57%. SOT is just over 2 hours, and includes about 20 minutes of gaming. Other use includes brief spells of web browsing and text messaging. Incredibly, Always On Display (AOD) has been enabled the entire time - I'd say this alone has consumed at least 10% of battery life, so I'd probably be nearer to 70% battery life remaining if AOD was disabled.

Can't complain about the standby battery drain of this phone. On battery for over two and a half days, well over 2 hours SOT, with Always On Display (AOD) enabled the entire time - still got 31% battery left.

Nothing to do with the thread but does anyone know why when I get a notification through Gmail and attempt to click the link it seems to start opening then suddenly stops and stays in the Gmail app
