Awfully quiet about this phone

Moto has been a great american company for many decades. I'm still going to support them and I really like how they build a phone.....solid, sturdy, attractive.

Now just release this damn phone. My dx is ready to retire!

Slashgear is reporting the phone to have the TI 4430 chip.

I'm always cautious about what that site reports. They aren't known for fact checking things they put up, even when things could easily be checked and not just based on rumor.

@ Bbeelzebub,
I am not saying the 4430 info is true. Just the first news I have seen reporting on the processor. Maybe they are reporting on the China version. However it would not surprise me if the info on the chip was true.

Has anybody said if that version for China Mobile (which I'm not quite sold on is the phone we're getting anyhow) has an LTE modem?

Maybe with some luck, because of Verizon's LTE, we'll get something other than another 4430.Then again, I'm sure if I expect to be underwhelmed, they can't possibly meet my low expectations.

From what I have been hearing. they have been losing money in this area for a while so, at this point, I fail to see how continuing to anger existing customers with a deluge of new products serves to be a positive.

Because at this point the only thing keeping them barely alive is volume. Without it, they don't have the resources to do what you're suggesting.

They've been losing money - but it's at a slower pace.

Are they losing money?????????

Motorola Mobility Provides Business Update

Motorola Mobility will issue its fourth-quarter 2011 earnings results at approximately 3:00 p.m. U.S. Central Time on Thursday, January 26, 2012.

If this phone doesn't come out soon I believe it will be competing with the next iPhone!

They would have to be incredibly stupid to insert the same exact processor, one which is outdated compared to the recent competition of quadcores and A15 processors, that was on the predecessor models. That or they prposely want to shoot themselves in the foot.

Are we at a point where that spec doesn't matter that much anymore?

The actual processor might not matter, as long as the customer sees buzzwords like "dual-core" or "1.5GHz".

What if by going with an "older" processor Motorola is able to get a great wholesale price, allowing them to produce the phone at a lower cost?

With that said, I truly expect this rumored device to ship with Qualcomm's S4.

I can tell you from using a G Nex and a RAZR....which the G Nex had a newer OMAP chip....it made absolutely no difference. Granted the chip in the RAZR and G Nex are basically the same one, but still.

That said....if newer chips gives the OEM and us access to new features...like the wireless mirroring on the HTC One X...then yea I would like newer processors. I do hope thats not limited to quad core chips....

When you wrote YOUR original message, they (Motorola) had posted a proft in the last quarter before your non-factual statement; which was "They've been losing money - but it's at a slower pace."

So, at the time I posted, you were incorrect, snce they had acutally made a little bit of money. Sorry! But it did prove you were blowing smoke with non-factual information!

Now, in a quarter results posted after your statement, Motorola posts a loss. Therefore, what does this post mean? At the time I posted my reply the 1st quarter 12 results had not been posted, and I'm sure you had no idea they would have had a loss (well, unless you are President of Moto, or their head accountant, or you have a crystal ball). So, you are now attempting to show that you were smarter? Cool! If that makes your day, go for it. Probably the biggest win in your life.

back onto the original subject...yes, it has been very quiet in regard to this phone. But heck, my X works great, and there is no Verizon store for a few hundred miles so WTH; I guess I can wait!

Back to the campfire....

The more I read about the S4, the more I want it in my next device.

I wasn't a fan of snapdragon procs, but the S4 is looking awesome.

So if anyone follows P3Droid on twitter you would have seen this last night:

"ok, its official..I'm going to start saving up for the Maxx HD, should have enough money by time the new school year starts....#itsaclue

They have been losing money for a while. In my opinion a contributing factor to that is the large number of new phones they have been releasing.
