Back Key Spazzing out when I use QWERTY

Hiya! Whenever I pull out the QWERTY keyboard to respond to a text etc instead of using the onscreen keyboard the back key spazzes out and hits itself many times taking me all the way out to the main screen. Its been happening ever since I got this phone new from Sprint 4 months ago - its stock 2.2.1 with a bunch of apps installed but no rooting custom ROMs etc HELP!.

Sounds like a hardware problem to me.... Take it to Sprint and let em look at it.
