Hi. What app or program can I use to back up S8 plus? Touch whiz crashes all the time. Im using Nova but because touch whiz keeps crashing my phone will not back up to Samsung cloud. It started the moment I installed Nova. Im just gonna reset the phone but realized nothing has backed up since I set the phone up. Thanks in advance .

What do you mean by "Touchwiz crashes all the time"?

BTW you can use Helium to back up your apps. I find it works on some apps and not at all on other apps.

I was a Nova fan myself and then I tried action launcher. So far so good with no issues. Works pretty much the same as Nova and allows me to backup my layout to Google drive or internal storage.

It says touch whiz has stopped with an x to close it. Its not set as my default launcher but it still does it quite frequently and when I try to back up manually to the cloud it keeps doing that and never lets it back up.

I don't quite understand how Touchwiz keeps your phone from backing up to Samsung Cloud. Are you sure that's the source of the problem?

In any case, you can use Samsung's SmartSwitch app to back up your apps and data to your desktop or laptop.

You can expect problems with Nova on s8 devices. I had them also. But a hard reset cures it. And don't install it again untill it's stable for s8.

I am not 100% sure, but everytime it starts to calculate how much room for each category I get the touch whiz error and backup closes. I know a hard reset will probably fix it. Usually with my other Samsung phones a hard reset usually fixes stuff like this when its third party software conflicts. Thanks . I will try smart switch to desktop.

You may want to invest in a fast microSD card. Or maybe you already have that installed? Because then you can store your important files there. Your apps are stored in Google play store account, so with fast wifi you're back on your feet in no time.

If you do that, and if you encrypt your SD card (as you should if there's anything private there), be sure to decrypt it before factory-resetting the phone, or the encrypted data will be lost.
