Backing Up before Updating SW Version

Hey guys, I would like to know the best way to back up apps + data such as SMS, phone calls, etc, before updating my phone from VC to VD. Thanks.

Apps such as Titanium Backup have worked for me. I've never cared about backing up SMS and phone calls, but I think you can back up data as well. There is a free version on the Android Market. Only difference with the paid version is that it loads everything for you. With the free version you have to press OK or accept for each app you have which can get annoying. But it is free, and works fine.

MyBackup Root works very well, in terms of apps+data, as well as sms's, pics, etc. Also, will restore without having to say yes to individual apps.
