backlight bleeding.. might go s4 now..

If the HTC one did not work for you, and believe that the s4 will, more power to you. I hope you find a device you are happy with.

That being said, the bickering in this thread needs to cease. Trying to sell each other on which phone is better, and calling each other names; its all getting old.

Also HTC never puts out cases for their phones at retail stores like the s4 does.. ridiculous

Radioshack here has just a clear case. Best buy only has otterbox and Wal-Mart has nothing. But everyone has tons for an s4!

Retail stores decide what cases to carry, not manufacturers. They generally base that on what device sells the most, and what has sold the most accessories in the past. Even demographic studies of device sales influence that.

The only way HTC (or anyone else) can control what cases are out there is if they include them in the box.

s4 has won virtually every comparison test vs the HTC one. Not only on performance, accessibility, but overall customer satisfaction. having a removable back us is crucial to me and you'll find it a blessing to easily upgrade memory and battery capacity.

Mr. Sanchez, why are you here? Judging from your post history - you are perfectly happy with GS4 and have no intentions of purchasing competitor's models... Do you simply search competitor's forums for "GS4" string and try to do "damage control" in all threads mentioning this particular model? Why? Do you have personal financial interest in such activity? This is an honest question. Just trying to understand why many of Samsung users continue doing this while the users of other brand's phones usually do not...

I did not ask you that question. Not sure why are you trying to comment on it and why you specifically misspell words like "hating"... Is there a specific reason for it? Are such misspelled words supposed to be " amusing" in some way or something?

But you know that I own both phones so I hop in there to see if there is anything new (tips/tricks) that I can do to make my daughters S4 better. I know you own both phones and you do the same. BUT we both, come on fess up, dig at posts when we see/read something that ticks us off, especially in the forum for the phone we don't like as much! :)

It's the ones who own either/or and go into the competing forum and bash that phone. I HATE winmo8 phones...I almost hate them as much as apple, but I do not and will not go into their threads and bash their phone.

I'm going to have to ask that you stop trying to instigate an argument.

I'm pretty sure manufacturers can make them display their cases or devices as they want, even push their devices more, which is what Samsung does with the GS4. All they have to do is put more money on the table.

Seriously. This guy AND "madlaw" do the same thing. Samsung might as well pay them both.

Plus, most reviewers prefer the HTC One. ALL reviewers have said that HTC One performance is much better than that of the Samsung. I don't know what it is.... But I believe they just can't admit that a phone can be better than the one they have purchased. They don't seem to understand that phones are largely subjective, meaning "to each his own."

However, there are certain facts people just can't skew. Performance being one of them: the HTC One clearly wins this one out. Sorry to hurt the Samsung dudes but that's the fact.

Just because you say it's a fact doesn't make it so lol. There are plenty of people who actually prefer the performance of the s4 over the One, myself included. I tried the One and liked it. It's a great performer. I think the s4 is superior in almost every way. That's not a fact. It's my opinion. So I'm not hurt at all. I love my device. :)

That's buying space. Not "making them" carry more. I'm sure if HTC wanted to rent sections and supply them with their own merchandise, they could work out a deal, but it would probably cost more than its worth.

In the Samsung situation, the store would have already had the stock of accessories, samsung just pays for premium locations like endcaps, etc. With less HTC accessories, HTC would likely pay for their placement location within the general wireless accessories area (eye level, easy to reach etc).

Also remember that the more devices are in the wild, the more accessories for thos e devices stores will invest in. That's why iPhone accessories can be found everywhere in insane quantities, and why there's more for Samsungs than HTC.

I was not trying to instigate anything and I apologize if it seemed to you that way. I was just curious of the reasons for some people's particular behavior.

Download dead pixel test from play store. Go to the black background. Go to a pitch dark room and look for tiny white spots on the screen (gotta look close sometimes) and also light bleed will be easily visibile.

I do this with all phones when I first get them.

It doesn't bother me which phone you, or anyone else, decides to use; I viewed this thread simply to see if there was anything here in which I could be a helpful resource to someone. That being said, however, I find it bordering on preposterous that you have to download an app, enter a completely dark room, and look for a problem! Unless this problem is going to grow (like a cancerous tumor), how in the world can this possibly affect you? It's like you have an annoying noise in your car's engine, but you can't hear it unless you get out of the car, lift the hood, and place your head in just the right spot! Sorry, man, but this makes no sense to me. If you do this with "every phone", you are certainly looking for issues, and if HTC has a bad track record (in your past experiences), I'm just not sure why you went back to them in the first place.

Either way, and I mean this seriously, best of luck with your decision. I hope you do find that device you are looking for!

Well got another one today after I sent my first one back after it had like a 10 second delay at night when flashing while taking a pic. This new one has backlight bleed right in the middle of the top along with a few white specs on a black background.

Looks like this one will be going back too. HTC still has not fixed their issues and this is why they will never be number 1. I had a one x and it had the same issues.. the guy at best buy told me the HTC one has been returned A LOT!!

I love this phone but I really might go with a s4 just so I don't have to worry about backlight bleed and dead pixels..

I have a one x and a one, and neither if them has had any if the issues you described. All phones can have have problems. There us no perfect manufacturer.

The GS4 is an excellent performer and I'm glad that you like it. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that - after all, if all people had same exact preferences we would all be using same exact devices. It's just strange to me that users of other devices, while being perfectly happy with them, still insist on visiting this particular forums section (as well as similar sections for other device's forums). Sure, they are always allowed to express their opinions (and I am not here to "moderate" anyone or anything), but... Other potential customers are perfectly capable of making their own decision based on either a first-hand experience with the different models in store, at their own home or by reading much more objective and detailed reviews such as on front page of AndroidCentral or other similarly "trusted" major websites... Why insist on sharing your more subjective and less informative opinion, over and over, about a device you don't even own anymore, especially if noone particularly asks for it? That looks like a pointless and illogical activity to me (no offense intended)...

Sorry man. That would offend me :) But I agree!

None taken. But there is plenty of this happening in this thread. You singled me out because? Nevermind, I already know the answer.

Ok, not being a smart-*** but if you need to go into a pitch dark room and look really hard to see these issues how does that impact your real life use experience. How often do you use your phone in the test like environment ???

All phones have bad batches. Mine hasn't had any problems at all, seems like you just got unlucky. But don't think that this can't happen with a Samsung phone or a LG phone. They can all have problems when they send out the first batch of phones.

GS4 has had its own problems with defective phones as well.

You've actually been really cool and I/we appreciate it. Honestly though, you don't own the One anymore so why do you bother coming in here? You're more than welcome but I'm curious.
