Hey all, would appreciate any help you guys can give me on this. I'm rooting my verizon gnex for the first time to load up a jellybean rom. A friend (and most of the forums) have suggested using titanium backup to backup all my apps and data. However, it seems that you can only use that once you've already rooted. So is there no way to save all my apps/data through the first root?

Try out wugs in the stickies above. I hear it does backups without root. Never used it so not 100% sure.

thanks for the tip davey, i'll give it a shot. that's been the main reason i never rooted really. i'm crazy about my setup on my homescreens and spent so much time getting all my apps exactly how i want them in folders/etc that i hate to have to go through that all over again.

I hear you man. All of us frequent rom flashers put up doing the setup dance with every new flash. It gets easier the more you do it. Its a small price to pay to have the latest software. And you want the latest stuff...its just gets better.

I can get all my apps/homescreen set up in under a hour...but I been crack flashin since the good ol OG Droid days lol

im good in about twenty min but i use hardly any apps and know every thing in settings i need to change. the one pain is logging into websites but sometimes you can get away with restoring data to your browser thru tibu. can be risky tho :)

Thanks for the tips! Def gonna try my backup pro.

Looks like a no-go for my backup pro. Says on the main page that the app data backup feature is only available if rooted.

I like some other features of Nova Launcher over stock but the main reason I use it is it allows you to backup your homescreens. Wug's toolkit will make a backup but you can use this for extra peace of mind if you want. Not going to help you as far as your homesceens at this point but you could use Nova or Apex going forward. I took screenshots of each screen to help me remember before Nova and it wasn't too painful. Now it's a breeze.

Thanks man. Definitely going to look into that.

You are better off using a backup program and only use it to backup the apps. I have had countless problems when restoring apps and data. I only restored some apps with data and even those half the time I didn't bother. It will give you less headaches just to set them up again.

You can always use a launcher like Nova or Apex and backup your homescreen settings like someone else said and titb to back up apps. Yea it's a pain to set everything back up but its become almost like a routine.

yeah the more i hear from everyone the more i'm realizing i'm just going to have to deal with the small hassle. especially if it becomes more of a pain to backup/restore everything separately than it would to just redo it all myself.
