Bad Wi-Fi Range

I guess I am the exception. I am very pleased with my wifi and absolutely AMAZED by the 3G speeds. I can get wifi in my front yard (Belkin N+ router) and with 3G I am watching youtube videos just like on my laptop. I live in the middle of Phoenix and Tucson and speeds were much slower on my BB so this is all very pleasing to me.

My home wifi reception is weaker on the Evo. I dont understand why, but I'm not getting full bars when in the same room as the router, unless my phone is in sight of the router.

Wifi strength also seems to be weaker compared to the Palm Pre. This is however all based on the number of bars appearing which isnt a very objective measure of connectivity.

I was having a problem with the phone not holding the connection last night. This morning after an overnight charge, rebooting the phone and the router, I am not getting a steady and consistant connection.

My next problem (I'm dang near sorry I got this thing) is WiFi. Mine doesn't see a signal at all. Few weeeks ago, I installed a Cisco E3000 dual band router. It definitely sends g and n, as I have an Archos - g - that works all over the place, great range. My n XPS laptop works super, as does my g netbook...but this EVO refuses to see the netowrk at all. Really really sucks.....

compared to my iPhone 2G, the WiFi on my EVO is approx 30-40% weaker, in the same location, IMO.

Your connection is likely the exact same ..... its probably a display issue. Many phones have that problem when launched.

Yeah you can count me in. WiFi range is real bad for me too. It doesn't seem to drop but in same room as the router im at 1 bar

Bad range here too. I'm less than 20 feet away from my router and I'm getting a weak signal.

Your connection is likely the exact same ..... its probably a display issue. Many phones have that problem when launched.

My signal showed jack, but was able to load a web page with ease on my front lawn.. I think it might be a display issue.

Yeah I think it might be a display issue as well, I am getting the same problem with only like 1 bar for Wifi being downstairs and my router is upstairs, but if you do a speed test I am still getting 6598 download and 446 upload, which I think is awesome so i'm not to concerned it might be a display issue

Confirm display issue - run a speedtest with 4 bars or 1 bar and I get the same result. I'm surfing in my undies out my backyard just fine with 1 bar..

this was my biggest gripe of the first day - it is definitely not a display issue for me - where I get a strong signal in my house on my laptop and iphone, I keep losing the Wifi signal on the EVO - it is actually worse than my iPad which is a known issue. Sure hope it can be fixed with software.

Have you tried rebooting your router? That made a difference for my connectivity.

Is there anyway we can see the transmit and receive power of the phone? I believe it's measured in dBi, and could be buried somewhere deep in a menu.

Im glad im not the only one noticing this but also glad to hear its just a display issue. Im in the same room as my router and its only at 1 bar.
