Badge notification on stock email app

My new Galaxy S9 arrived yesterday on pre order and for the most part I'm pretty happy. When I receive emails or don't open them the little count badge doesn't seem to appear, I've checked all my notification settings and everything is switched on I even tried turning them off and on again and the problem still hasn't gone. Anybody any idea what the problem could be?

Same thing here. I get no notifications of emails and they aren't pushed to my phone even though the settings are all correct.

If the S8 Oreo update is any indication Samsung is adopting the notification badges used by Google, which are tied to the information in the notification shade. If the app is not reporting notifications in the shade, there's no dot on the app.

I seem to recall having to enable a permission on my Pixel in order to get this working, even though everything else was enabled.

In my case, I believe it was enabling notification access on the Pixel Launcher, or enabling the notification dots in the app notifications for the launcher.

Your Samsung phones WILL be different, but it's a look in the right direction...

Same here... No badges at all, on any of the apps' icons.

My badges are working "sometimes". At times I will see a badge notification, other times I will see nothing yet will stumble over new emails and messages that I had no idea where there. Very frustrating.

They only seem to work when you receive a notification of new emails as far as I can see, as soon as you delete the notification the badge disappears.

To enable notification count on badge/icons. Settings >notifications>select app icon badges to show with number.

Regretting my decision to buy an S9.

I will say, I didn't seem to have this issue for the couple days I ran with the Samsung launcher.

However, its things like this as to why I always end up turning to Nova Launcher with Tesla Unread. Together, they work well and show me any type of notification bubbles I want to see(although I'm working through an issue with them and the voicemail notification bubbles).

Just checked the Samsung launcher and now I'm not seeing bubbles either. However on Nova Launcher they work fine.

I have the S8+ with Nova Launcher. I just updated to Oreo, and I'm not seeing the bubbles on the Samsung Email app. The notification is still in the notification bar - I know that when you clear the notification, the bubble goes away. Bubble for all other apps seem to be working fine.
