Baked Snack Froyo EB13/EC05 "More Undisputed ;)"

Keep Paul's post saved, good info if you need it later.

In Baked Snack 2.2 Hero actually has the ROM write the wallpaper to your SD card, which I happen to have. See attached.

Thank you both. Paul, I've never used either of those but I'm now going to look into them and learn some more. Rag, thanks for the image. Following you guys and all of the AC forums has allowed me to learn about and enjoy my Epic and Android more than I had hoped.

Is this compatible with EC05?

Its an EB13 build, so its not related at all to EC05. EC05 is a newer Samsung release of Froyo for the epic. That said, there really is no reason to use EC05 as it namely addresses (often times not as well as devs rolling custom EB13 roms) issues that existed with EB13.

The one standout that EC05 excels with is the new modem bin. Luckily, all you need to do is download the EC05 modem, fire up Odin, and flash it into the phone. No more Time Without Service crap, and data is notably faster on 3G than it is on DR18, DK28, or EB13. So, flash this ROM, flash the new EC05 modem, and enjoy your Epic.

I will say- while the battery life on this rom is good, it is NOT as good as it was when I used Midnight 4.2 w/ bonsai kernel, or ACE w/ bonsai kernel. Im really hoping that Baked Snack 2.2's kernels will change that though..

Trust me the 2.2 kernels make a world of difference! I'm running his " 1.2 low " kernel and I think the screenshot below explains it all..

28.5 hrs off the charger and I'm still at 32 percent on the stock battery. I've played some Angry Birds, surfing, txting, and other things...

Wow, whats your screen on time? The biggest killer for me on battery life is that I like to do alot of things that require the screen to be on (most people are the same likely). Doesnt he have a 1.28 lowest? I wonder which of the two would be better for battery life...

Yes he has 5 kernel versions 2.2. I really haven't tried the others, I have stuck by this one because so far performance and battery life as you can see is awesome.

I believe last I looked it was over 3 hrs... Which isn't a whole lot but what I've done in those 3 hrs has been heavy drain, surfing, txting w/pics sent , some flashing (that is very processor/battery demanding) and Angry Birds for around 45 minutes today. I would say under normal kernel conditions that same amount of stuff would of drop my battery so fast I would end up around 10-12 hrs at best.

Bottom line its a huge improvement over stock and Hero claims he has yet to tap into the best battery life available.. ;)

I've been playing today with BS 2.1 and I really like it. Had major problems from the start but forgot to wipe the dalvik cache, so I re-wiped and everything has been fine. I really like the launcher choices (3). I OC'd to 128 and all hell broke loose. It started flashing the wall paper in the hm screen, so I rebooted just to get stuck in the re-boot loop. When I re-flashed 2.1 I left the OC at 100max and it's been fine.

Having fun setting it all up. Wasn't thrilled with clock text in the lock screen but I can live with it. -So far so good..

Thanks for the support thread here!

Ya the overclock in 2.1 doesn't react very well. I can assure you that it has been resolved with his kernel choices (5 of them) in v2.2 which should go public once he gets v2.3 (EC05 compatible) released to members.

Does SetCPU allow you to take advantage of the OC'd Kernels or are they becoming built in to the ROM's? For BS 2.0 ROM or even the newer 2.2 what are ideal setting on SetCPU? On-demand vs Conservative, and some profiles settings. Anyone have any screen shots? Or can give me some good reference points?

According to what I saw in posts on BakedSnackShack.com from Hero answering questions "Conservative" is the best setting. I have only played with the new 1.2 low kernel which is outstanding battery life. I finally threw my phone on the charger this morning after 1 day, 10 hrs and I still had around 18 percent on my battery.

That's nice results!! After posting for SetCPU settings I decided to mess with a profile for charging while charging, and I crashed the ROM into the endless boot cycle again.. Arghhh.. Flashed back to ACE, and wow nice and stable, and fast too with OC to 100. I think I'll try to flash BS one more time and leave everything alone and not run anything custom on setcpu.

Sounds good.... Yes I still have that bug in me for ACE to get upgraded.. Seems like many of you still would like to see ACE going...

You bet Paul.

Installed BS. Liked it, but not theme. Installed the EC05 modem. Still ok. Installed Honeycomb theme -- liked some aspects but overall too many negatives (icons at the top too small, and too many buttons/text misalignments). Yearning for the cleanness of ACE, I tried flashing some aspects of ACE with BS but didn't work -- FC's popped up, boot loop hit me a couple of times, and battery drain. Wiped clean and tried several other ROMs (Bonsai and CM7) but too much instability out there as a business user of my Epic.

I found BS nice but not ACE nice (stability and speed), so tonight I'm going to Odin back to Eclair, reroot with a fresh install of EB13 ext4, and re-install the ACE ROM, until further update of ACE.

ACEs HIGH!!

do you guys find that both 1.2 kernels in 2.2 hang at 200, even when set to 100? not a big deal, but just looking for confirmation, lol. maybe battery would be even better if they could settle down to 100? I guess I am lucky in that my phone never has any problems with min. set to 100. the 1.28 kernels do seem to settle at 100 tho. loving this ROM in any case!

yes, according to Hero in the forum, the conservative governor is his own 'Hero governor', so that seems to be the one to use.

When I wipe and flash 2.1, then wipe and flash menue fix. Then flash 2.2 with no wipe. Can I access the Bakedsause thru CWM or do I put the 1.2low kernel on the the root of the sd card first then flash?

This should get me 2.2 with 1.2low right?

yes, you don't need the menu fix tho. after flashing 2.1 and letting the phone boot up, go back and flash 2.2 and let the phone boot up again. then in recovery again, the 5 kernels will be in the A1Baked Sauce folder.
