Baked Snack Froyo EB13/EC05 "More Undisputed ;)"

Guys, I am a forum member of BS but currently on Bonsai... that said, I am interested in trying the new kernels before a move ROMs... is there a way to get the new kernels as a member without having to flashing the entire ROM (in order to get the A1BakedSauce folder on your SD)... I have the old folder from a prior install, but would like to try the new modded kernels...

you should be able to download BS2.3, and just move the BakedSauce folder to your sdcard, and then flash one of the kernels :)

OK, maybe I'm blind or just can't find the right links. I know they were removed from the thread for legal reasons, but when I try to search google for it, etc, it takes me to a page that seems to have v1.6 as the most up to date free version. I have no issue with "donating" to try the ROM, since I'd like to see how good the battery magics are with this ROM compared to syndicate, but I want to make sure I'm doing so at the correct website.

Also, since I'm currently running SFR 1.1, I'm assuming I would have to factory reset, wipe cache/dalvik and then install? Or would I have to Odin back to EB13, since I'm on EC05?

Thanks for the help

That is the correct and only website. The downloads page is outdated. Your only recourse would be to email Hero.

Coming from Syndicate, just wiping and flashing should be fine.

OK. Thanks, Rag. I saw someone mention that it was outdated, but I'm coming into this thread a little late, so I wasn't sure if 2.0 was up somewhere else and I was just blind.

I've been running Midnight 5.1 (based on Bonsai 4.0 rom and kernel) for a couple of weeks. Everything is running smoothly, and battery life has been good, but I'm always looking for better. Not a big fan of donating to try a rom or kernel, especially since I may not like it, but would do it if I thought I would use it for a while.

Can anyone who has used both Baked Snack 2.3 and Midnight 5.x or Bonsai 4.0 comment on comparisons of battery life? Also, any comparison to Syndicate 1.1 would be helpful as well. Thanks.

The real difference when it comes to battery life in our current ROM environment lies in the kernel. Bonsai uses its own kernel (midNIGHT uses the Bonsai kernel as midNIGHT is just a slightly tweaked version of Bonsai), Syndicate uses the Twilight kernel and Baked Snack uses its own kernel.

The Bonsai v4.0.0 kernel gave me average battery life, the Twilight v1.1.0 kernel gave me very good battery life, and the Baked Snack v2.3 kernel is currently giving me excellent battery life.

Keep in mind you can mix and match kernels and ROMs to find the combination that best suits your needs. ACS makes an amazing ROM, and Hero's kernels have always given me stellar battery life and a buttery smooth system. That's why I'm on Syndicate v1.1.0 ROM and Baked Snack v2.3 kernel. If you decide to go the route I have, keep in mind you'll have to reroot after flashing the Baked Snack kernel on top of the Syndicate ROM as Syndicate relies on its Twilight kernel for root access.

Not had any problems with bonsai or syndicate. Baked snack got a few force closes even after wipes but managed to clear them up with cwm fix permissions. They are all good roms but I have settled on bonsai for now.

Hey I have Syndicate and I would like to try what you said about rerooting after flashing the Baked Snack kernel on top of the Syndicate Rom. I am sorry I am confused. Thank you Rag in advance. I tried to flashed BS 2.3 on top, but it won't flash the BS 2.3 on Syndicate v1.1.0 Rom. I do not know what is happening. I have the new Sprint upadate EC05 on my phone.

From what I read/have been told on the BS forums, you have to start at v2.1 and upgrade from 2.1 to 2.3

1) Wipe, flash Syndicate
2) Flash Baked Snack kernel
3) Run one click root
4) Prosper

Theoretically, wouldnt the new Genocide kernel give the best battery life considering you can undervolt it exactly as far as your phone can go? Just a question- I know Hero supposedly does kernels very well..

MidNight is a bonsai rom, but the fact that everything is stripped (BYOR edition) theoretically should make it better than Bonsai for battery life. Its kind of like Arch Linux vs. Ubuntu- start with nothing and build up to exactly what you want vs. start with the kitchen sink. I am constantly on a quest for the best battery life, and so far MidNight with Genocide 1.0 has been the best. I am asking though for advice; do you think I might see better results with something else?

I'm on Bonsai 4.0 and using BS 2.3 1.2low kernel and battery life has been good, though I'm only one day into the combination. That said, I was getting stellar battery life with Bonsai 4.0 and BS 2.2 kernels, so given the mods made for TWS and the secret sauce changes to the kernel for longer battery life, I'm optimistic this should work out well...

Thinking of doing the same with genocide undervolt. Have you done the uv yet? Howlow were you able to go?

Haven't tried the latest Genocide. I might in the future if I get complacent. However battery life is not the only reason I use Baked Snack - it also makes the OS really flow and much more responsive.

i just switched from Genocide 1.0 back to the Baked Snack 1.28 lowest kernel. i had some success running with some pretty heavy undervolts, but i got tired of the freeze-ups, it takes a lot of experimentation.... and i think the jury is still out on how stable the Voltage Control app is. i still think that that setup has a LOT of potential, and is definitely fun, but for now, it's nice to run a smooth battery-sipping kernel pre-configured by a master :)
