Battery drain issue after 4.4.3

Tested it today. I ran a power hungry app for wifi tethering, but these results seem the same as what I was getting when running it before on 4.4.2.

Android system is only 3%...that doesn't seem awful to me.

My battery has been sucking even before the 4.4.3 update.

I literally cannot make it to 1 hour of screen time (and screen is ALWAYS the top battery user) without using at least 50% battery.

I woke up Saturday at like 9am and was reading on my phone, and by about 10am I was already at 40%.

Thoughts? RMA a possibility?

1. do a couple of soft resets/reboots.
2. delete all old Hangouts threads.

I don't even know what thread mine was posted to!!!!! UG!!

Anyway, after the update my battery usage on 9 hours idle (T-Mobile, zero screen ontime, WiFi on and in range, bluetooth on but not connected, location tracking off, ART, Google Now off) went from the normal 4% to an insane 20-25%! I did end up clearing the cache partition (with NO OTHER CHANGES) and it has returned to 4% again. So I am happy.

Soft resets as in turn it off and then on again?

I think he means just reboot (power cycle).
That is always the first thing you should try. I usually end up having to reboot my N5 about once every 3 weeks or so. Next thing to try is to clear the cache partition. Both are easy. Then the harder stuff- checking all the settings, uninstalling apps, and finally factory wipe (I have never had to do that).

I'd RMA it, but part of the RMA process is a factory reset. For me, that fixed. the problem.

same here. I do notice that the Andriod system is now one of the top users of battery life. It never appeared at the top of the lise before

That was exactly what was showing as my top user of battery during idle, before I cleared the cache partition.

Absolutely. Don't even THINK of trying to RMA a device without finally trying a factory wipe/reset and then using it a while without installing a bunch of apps...

Count me in as well. The battery performance on my Nexus has dropped to 50% after installing 4.4.3. Anyway by which I can uninstall the update?

Hello,

I have exactly the same issue. After update to 4.4.3 I noticed that battery is going low very fast. Before update, in normal use I could get one day out of a full charge. I have GPS is off, also not so much apps installed on my Nexus 5.

Now my battery going low and down until my work day ends, it's not more then 8 hours of work. And I don't use my phone to much, just pretty usual using, few calls, check news or Facebook.

Also I noticed that my phone reject some incoming calls, in the beginning I thought I just missed them, but after it happens few times in my hands. Looks like abnormal behavior.

I want to roll back to previous version of Android, it was perfect for me.

You could also try wiping the cache partition. It's fast, easy, and doesn't erase your data.

"Android system" can mean all sorts of things as all apps rely on it to perform minor or major functions.

My Nexus 5 picked up the 4.4.3 upgrade yesterday afternoon and, so far, my battery life has - if anything - improved greatly. I took it off the charger early this morning and spent 1 hour and 34 minutes in Chrome over a Wi-Fi connection and consumed just 11% battery in that time. Back on the charger to top it up while I was getting ready for work; right now I am at 94% after 2 hours 41 minutes of basic use (several texts, one 5 minute phone call, several minutes of web browsing).

Update: I cleared the cache and data of the Apps I use most. Looks like I'm back to normal now.

Deleting data will wipe out your settings on those respective apps, so use with caution.

I will try wiping the cache partition in the future.

Mine's working perfectly fine like before so I don't really know what went into this new update except new dialer

Sent from my Nexus 5 using AC Forums mobile app

No problems with mine, at the end of the day still have 30% of battery with almost 4 hours of screen time... However, after the update for the first time appears the mm-qcamera-daemon bug... just unistalled the quickpic app and the bug is gone... I don?t know if there is a relation between the bug and the quickpic app.. So far no problem with battery drain..

See... those numbers are insane to me. I literally could not make it with 2 hours of screen time in 2 hours, let alone a full day.

Edit: screenshots. I unplug my phone at 6:20am every day (alarm goes off). I don't even use the phone until after 8am, as I'm showering / driving to work / etc. It is 1:20pm here now, so the phone has been 7 hours and I'm at half battery. Without using it very much at all.... it sits on my desk while I am at work.
